Why do homosexuals need to use the word "gay" to call themselves?

I mean heterosexuals have no other name they want to be called.

Could it be the fact that homosexuality is a perversion of the laws of nature thus making homosexuality a perversion?

What makes homosexuality a perversion is the simple fact that it is impossible for homosexuals to reproduce.

Now the defenders of the perversion of homosexuality will chant homosexuals can reproduce by heterosexual methods. Well this is heterosexual reproduction, not homosexual reproduction.

Now the defenders of the perversion of homosexuality will chant homosexuality happens in nature. If this was true then why cannot homosexuals reproduce when they engage in homosexual reproductive sexual intercourse. After all the sexual organs are reproductive organs.
