if you didnt know already, stem cells are blank cells that havnt been assigned to a purpose, nor do they have one primary owner since they are harvested from fetuses. now why all teh buzz about this? well the idiot moralists say its wrong to harvest aborted children, but in reality this raw genetic material could save millions of lives. basically what happens is you put stem cells (the blank ones) on living tissue and the stem cells clone the tissue with the dna, thus creating a new cell. this process can do any number of things but they rebuild muscle and bone mainly. idealy they could use this stem cell technology to literally regrow lost body parts, and repair sensative organs like the heart. stem cells can also mimic nerve tissue leading to the blind and cripple seeing and walking again. sounds great doesnt it? cure for every possible illness? nope - cant do it - because the moral folk say the method for getting them is wrong. i personally dont want to see stem cell research launched off into a huge corporation for a number of reasons. 1 it will become another huge drug company over time 2 the world already has too many damn people in it and we could stand to have a few killed off by natural causes 3 aborted fetuses, while a great concept, are not ENTIRELY stem cells, thus creating a large amount of biohazard waste in the process 4 this will lead to cloning which in itsself is an annoying thought 5 copying cells copies genetic faults and errors, you dont permanently fix the problem with stem cells
all in all its a good idea if we want to save billions but its too costly and eventually once they pass the bill or whatever to make it legal theyll see why it wasnt a good idea in the first place.
