So me and the room mate were driving around wednesday night, and the dj on the radio starts praising "hump day". i look to my room mate and say "i never understood why they call it hump day." so he asked me what i meant, and here was my argument. hump day is essentially a day of the week that is higher in rank than the other days. thus being the pinacle of the hump, the climax, the best and most important day of the week... hump day. but is wednesday really the climax of the week? i prefer to think otherwise. as the middle of the week is not the finest day of the week but rather the slowest, and sometimes most headache prone. this whole hump idea is backwards, wednesday should not be hump but trough day. the lowest poin of an arch - the trough, or in the old west the trough was a holding device for water or food for animals where normally all the s*** in the water and worthless crumbs of food gathered in the bottom.
this idea yields more reason and sense than the hump theory, as the weekends (the days of rest for most of us) are held in higher regards than the dead middle of the week, which im sure alot of us loathe. this is a simple concept to understand and should not need a diagram to explain. if you must look at the week in which productivity and business over rule rest and relaxation then yes wednesday is obviously the hump day and weekends are slack days where you feel less of a human actualy being human. but for most of the u.s. that is not the case. i say we throw out the hump and bring in the trough.
