WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. violent crime rate declined 2.2 percent last year, continuing a decade-long downward trend in serious offenses, the FBI said Monday.

The FBI calculated 7,649 hate crimes -- cases in which offenders were motivated by bias.

Of those cases, 53 percent of cases were based on race, 16 percent on religion, 15 percent on sexual orientation and 13 percent were based on ethnicity. Because of changes in reporting procedures, the FBI provided no statistical comparison to the previous year.

Of single-bias incidents, the most -- 2,731 -- were described as anti-black, while 954 other cases were labeled anti-Jewish.

Of the anti-homosexual cases, 738 were committed against men and 164 were against women.

The FBI report also contained two special reports that examine juvenile drug violations and crimes against infants.

ill bet money that over 70% of the people who committed these crimes were white middle aged democratic christian paper shufflers possibly drunk on foreign alcohol and woke up the next morning with a headache. someday i would like to see a religeous affiliation s.w.a.t. team, one that would come and gun down every single person at whatever kind of lynching/cross burning/witch hunting party is going on, just more proof that the government should be doing something about what its adults are doing instead of what our kids are learning. if you fix the situation at its source (parents being the natural educators of thier children) you just might not have to regulate what they learn in public schools so much. when the kindergarden teacher stumbles in high on meth with and coke with a big red hammer and sicle on her forehead it doesnt matter what she teaches the kids, they are looking to her as a role model. besides, freedom is limited to what the government wants it to be, they can limit it to anything and threaten your life if you dont obey. although this in itsself would be a hate crime it would prove a point that government thinks its above natures law, and would eventually lead to the government imploding on itsself - taking dick bush and colin down with it.
