As I have mentioned before here at The Voice in a posting predicting a new political party, there is no party platform that neatly fits my profile of requirements. The Democratic Party has its priorities wrong on this plank: pandering to a special interest group trumps national sovereignty.
But the Republicans have gone BADLY astray since Goldwater’s day. If they can get back on track to true Goldwater-Reagan conservatism, the GOP might survive as a valid and necessary counterbalance to liberal forces otherwise unrestrained.
But the Democrats now fit my profile of requirements much better than does the Republican platform as it has been subverted by the ultra-conservative rightwing influence.
Unfortunately we have to accept a single rotten plank in the Democratic platform. It is better than a platform of rotting NeoCon planks, most egregious of which is the assault the very essence of America – our precious Constitution!
We need to replace the rotten plank in the Democratic platform. And we must repair the whole Republican platform. Or replace it. Ron Paul owns the best blueprint for that (not perfect, but almost). |
