How Many More Scandals in Reserve?
Last week's events seemed at first blush a very good thing that were long overdue. George W. "War Criminal" Bush had been PROVEN and EXPOSED as the liar he is. His talk of World War III being at hand and that we have Iran to blame was shown to be pure fabrication. We appeared to have the smoking gun of his duplicitous actions. He knowingly lied in an attempt to start another pre-emptive war. This remained the top news story for no more than a single news cycle. Why? The war cabal had a scandal in reserve to divert attention from the War Criminal's blatant lying. Before the weekend news cycle, all eyes and ears had been diverted to the destroyed torture tapes.
Yes, torture is a bad thing, but any rational, thinking and informed person already knew torture was being committed in our names. These tapes were not destroyed because they would change anyone's mind. Their destruction was a calculated action. The destruction was over two years ago. The war cabal put their destruction in their reserve of distractions. Whenever the momentum is swinging to bringing Bush and company to account, there is convenient diversion. I am forced to wonder how many more of these scandals lie dormant for the war cabal to divert the American public from the real criminals.
This is the same type of lie that got us into Iraq. Over a million innocent lives lost—we must leave as soon as possible. It is long past time to impeach, convict and remove from office both Bush and Cheney. Once that is accomplished, it is our duty as members of the human race to make sure they are tried as the war criminals they have been exposed. We must not let a "sound bite" mentality divert us from this. If we do allow this to work, there is no telling how many more diversions are being kept in reserve.

| The diversion was to take the focus off the war criminals at the top and try to spread the blame around to anybody other than Bush and/or Cheney. Most of the discussion in the mainstream media now centers on what Democrats knew what and when. Therefore, when the war criminal is in the spotlight with the smoking gun in his hand, anything is acceptable to them if the spotlight is turned elsewhere.

| You bring up a good point. But it's not without benefit to understand that some Democrats are complicit in the torture by knowing but remaining silent. It explains a lot . . . like why they have not impeached Bush and Cheney already. Distraction? Diversion? It doesn't take very long to point out the difference between witnessing a murder (and being afraid to talk) and committing the murder. But when the Bush Administration fields a double crime of torturing people and destroying evidence to cover up other crimes, like distracting us from the revelation that their own NIE disproves their lies about Iran, well . . . please toss out more diversions like that. Eventually these distractions will be their downfall. |

| Concur APL! And the notion of the Bush administration investigating itself in the matter of the CIA videotapes is ridiculous on the face of it! There are unmistakable criminal acts here. This is not mere speculation - both Congress and the courts were seeking the information on the tapes, the acts of torture, themselves, were crimes, and American Justice dictates that the torture victims had a right to these tapes. Unleashing the DoJ and CIA investigators on this is but one more cover-up! When shall an informed public take a stand - demand an impartial investigation by an independent prosecutor? So Far, Joe Biden is the only member of Congress calling for that and the silence of his colleagues isn’t encouraging. Email Senator Biden and tell him you back his effort to appoint a special counsel to investigate the destruction of the CIA torture tapes:

| I don't disagree with anything posted here so far . . . but would add a note about another theory going around . . . that one of the tortured suspects was tricked and gave up some names of those who helped Al Qaeda likely in planning 9-11...and the names were mostly Saudi, including a prince, and a Pakistani. So, if true. . . on the tapes you would have statements about two of our supposed allies, the Saudis and Pakistanis, complicit in terrorism. And Bush and Cheney, with ties esp. to Saudi royalaty, under suspicion even more... Perhaps the timing of this is meant to distract us from the NEI scandal . . . And although I don't think they want us to know more about the torturing that they say "we don't do" I really think they don't care much . . . because their supporters in large part support torture . . . as long as it is "those people," i.e., you know, people who are "different." Further, as long as their little Janie and little Johnny don't have to go to war and be at risk, well . . . who cares? You would think at least they would worry about the costs of all this . . . but maybe they are counting on killing all the New Deal programs to pay for the war and torture . . . If you think people can't be this blind or sick . . . keep reading and looking . . . for example at right wingers including a New York Post columnist, who pushed for the parole of the guy in Arkansas...because it would infuriate Bill Clinton, as victim related to him . . . and you KNOW that was behind it, Chuckabee . . . off subject, will stop, but ranting on these guys is so easy. write on --KZ |

| The administration did not delete the videos. The CIA did after alerting members of congress.
