I beleive there was no way that López Obrador could have lost that election!

López Obrador denounced NAFTA and the Elite bankers were not going to have that. . . . .

Total coruption. Reminds me of a U.S. election.

But Bush called to congratulate Calderon on his victory, so the case is closed . . . right?

Funny thing though. Exit polls were predicting Obrador the victor, but they were wrong . . . just like in Ohio.

With both these elections, conservatives explain that exit polling is often wrong.

But when the exit polls in the Ukraine predicted Yushchenko the winner but the election was called for Yanukovych, the Bushies immediately called it a fraud.

Bush called to congratulate Calderon on his victory<<< Your right how ridiculous to call when the election called no winner...probably because he is what the USA wanted Calderon and that's what we got! Makes you sick.

To learn about William, just search back a little to see his old articles, and several articles we posted in response. In short, his poor grammar and spelling made him the butt of many jokes. Some here tried to offer advice, others not so much. As can happen, the whole thing escalated, and William began to post tons of jibberish and counterattacks to flood the site. This crowded out many a good article, and I was one of several members advocating William be banned from the site - at least temporarilly. This came to pass after William threatened to bring down the site with spamming (or lawsuit). He came back with one or two different names and IP addresses during his 30 day banishment, but his true identity was betrayed by his rather distinctive writing style. Now he is back as William again and appears to be a new man. I would suggest that if he posts a comment that you are tempted to respond to, try not to provoke him unnecessarily, or we will have to cover the same ground anew.

But this brings me to some etiquette guidelines that, of course, are merely suggestions.

1. Posting several articles at once dominates the marquee and pushs everybody else off. It also makes it harder to get full response from us to any particular article. Better to space them out rather than feast or famine.

2. A 1 or 2 sentence article is usually better as a comment, and show a fair regard for the other members more lengthy works.

3. A very long article takes a very long time to read and can be daunting. AZ Moderate, for instance, splits up his long articles into multipart series - a smart approach.

4. An article that is merely a link to another site is either better off as a comment, or as was the case for Impeach Bush's links to the Jim Pederson reelection site, simply SPAM. Same is true for Viagra ads.

5. Cut and paste articles can occasionally be educational and welcome if on topic, especially if embellished with a little commentary or explanation.

6. The sources for anything you did not write yourself should be clearly cited. If I want the NYTs or Wikipaedia, I'll go there directly.

7. Directly attacking another another VofAZ member is generally uncool, although sometimes unavoidable or irresistable. In most cases, calling someone online a dick, a******, dumbass, or f***tard reflects more poorly on you than on him or her (although again, occasionally this is unavoidable or irresistable). Most of the time, as soon as someone tells me how much of a liberal retard I am, I know that I won the argument. It's good to remember that your arch enemy for a given topic may be your staunchess ally on the next article. We came here to exchange ideas, improve our writing or debate skills, get an occasional laugh, and see what's going on. No one likes to be shot down all the time (except AA - he lives for it).

The man won. Would you rather have someone who will work with the U.S. or against us?

Fox was no friend to the U.S. and down the line as his corruption is uncovered you might just come to like this new guy. He did say he wanted to get better control of the boarder and stop losing Mexico's biggest asset, her people.

Well let's just extrapolate, shall we:

1. Calderon wins, conservative policies continue (read oligarchy), the poor get poorer and continue to flood over our border where the poor are not quite as poor . . . yet.

2. Obrador wins, starts a populist movement reflecting the people's will (you know, the same let the people decide kind of movement you want to decide if abortions are O.K.). This really riles Bush because now he has a democratically elected Hugo Chavez or Evo Morales right on the U.S. border, and he isn't as interested in continuing policies that exclusively benefit the oil conglomerates and overseas big business investors in general. This president does institute policies to help the poor however, and beguns real economic reform. Mexicans do not continue streaming over the border to join the less free fascist-oligarchical-theocracy north of the border.

I would rather have a Mexican president that works for the hundred million Mexican people, and not the several thousand wealthy elite. I sincerely believe, that in the long run, that is best for the U.S. Once Mexico show us the way, maybe we can try the same thing here.

Thank you Moron In Charge for the honorable mention. Let me add that I do not broadside the site with the articles in my series, either. Two reasons: I want to give folks the time to read, digest and comment without overloading them; and out of courtesy to others that might wish have sufficient room and hang-time on the marquee for folks to read, digest and comment.

I’ve noticed that recently on occasion when I return to Voice of Arizona that the Marquee has been dominated during my short absence by a particular prolific contributor.

Now that is OK so long as each article has had some effort put into it worthy of our reading it, something to say. It seems that the person in question is quite prolific, and the articles contribute to the give-and-take here at VofA have for the most part been worthy of posting. I read most of them with interest and responded where I had an opinion.

About three of the latest articles by this contributor, however, have been what Season of Reason labeled “hollow articles”. I agree. These articles are “flash” articles with letters as filler to meet the site’s 100 word requirement to publish.

In my opinion, that is too clever by half. And it floods the marquee and pushes much better thoughtful well-developed articles into the archive bin at top speed.

We’ve been here, done that. The author of these hollow articles is new to the site. He asks “who the hell is William?” Allow me to provide a little background.

Excerpt from “Beyond Spam. Stomp! Stomp!”:

“VofA’s site design never ceases to amaze me, and it operates so flawlessly. And the spamming feature has been used very judiciously. But now it is likely to be exercised like never before by the denizens of the VofA site in defense of this flawless operation. It seems we have one among us that wants to throw a stick into the spokes.

”A Spammer has raised its ugly visage, not from the big bad world out there, but from our very midst. This person was welcomed, encouraged and indeed helped by virtually all of the participants here at VofA. In retrospect, for too long a time it would seem.”

Moron In Charge, our resident diplomat, has listed a “Bill of Rights”, the Right things to do to maintain civility at VofA. I am sure that our new and valued contributor will understand the need to follow these guidelines.

BUSH: I look forward to working with whomever the Mexican people have elected and…
KING: Do you know him?
BUSH: I don’t know him. Looking forward to getting to know him.
KING: Apparently he won. I’m glad to bring you the news.
BUSH: You sure did.
Did they meet previously or not? Calderon says he met/interviewed with Bush several times. Bush says he never met the guy. And what would motivate one or the other to lie about it? Curious.
