A little over one year ago we here in America had the opportunity to vote. We were told by those on the left that we had voted for change.
People on this site love to point out where America was when Bush took over, conveniently disregarding the fact that we were in an economic downturn brought on by the burst of the tech bubble and we were already fighting rising gas prices, otherwise why would Bush have even mentioned it as an issue.
Well let's look at the results of that change sine then but first let's remember where we were as a country:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon and it keeps going up
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase)
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses)
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and by God we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.
Quote of the Day..."My friends, we live in the greatest nation in
the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change
it." - Barack Obama
Let's move on to some specifics...
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250
And yes, if you make more money you save more money, as you should because you are paying more in taxes to start off with.
Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates... Oh Goody, even more reason for the liberals to love them.
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

I don't know the name of the suthor but we have all seen these facts before. Many of you here at VONA have done your best to dispute them, but damn... they are the real deal. As Obama said, "I mean it".
But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.
PS. Many thanks to the group who put this information together. You know who you are.
Some facts to think about...

My 2 cents
Apr. 30, 2008 at 08:44:54 PM Excellent article. The facts are there, good... View this Comment As I said at the bottom, I can not take credit for the fact checking. There is a great network of people out there that I have been lucky enough to network with. As this information is gathered they often keep me in the loop. But I assure you, they are average Americans all with the occasional insider. |

| Well at least you're consistent in that you believe the Republican Congress should be credited for the 90s economy (minus Clinton*) and, in turn, the Democratic Congress should assume responsibility for the 00s economy. Really? Maybe the reality is that they couldn't derail the train wreck set into motion by Bush and his rubber stamp (Republican) Congress. Nevertheless, I have no regard for the Democratic Congress and their empty promises amount to a real colossal circle jerk. *I'm willing to bet that many of the Obama loyalists on this site are now willing to denounce the Clinton years and take back their praises for his role in the 90s boom. After all, if you support Obama, part of the creed you have to believe in is that Bill Clinton = George W. Bush. But as soon as Hillary is out of the picture, they and Obama can all go back to praising the Clinton years. |

If not for Republican control of congress we would have collapsed right then. Instead they were able to slow the decline, kick it back up and now we simply have to take our medicine which the Democrats are now trying to avoid doing so that the country will collapse and they can blame the whole thing on Bush. Revisionist History is starting to become epidemic. |

| Let's skip the first part of your "fact" filled expose for now. The "third" part (PART 3?) is from a circulating email propaganda piece that you just recycled here. How do I know this? Because know it All wrote an article about one month ago by cutting and pasting the whole thing. Seven pages of comments, but not a peep from you. I guess you missed it. Anyway, my pertinent comments to this illegal immigration distortion can be found below. [link:az.vona.com]
