Recently I read an article on this site discussing this persons opposition to the terms Liberal and Conservative. The writer introduced the terms Anti- Bush and Pro-Bush and as alternatives. The foundation for this idea is based on the fact that some Conservatives don’t like Bush. The writer claims that Voice of Arizona is looking for Pro-Bush writers, but that is not true. They are looking for writers who have a point of view. Neither Pro nor Anti-Bush.

As an entity, V of A has advertised on a Liberal Anti-Bush radio station. I use both words here for a reason, one is an ideology the other is an opinion. Air America makes no apologies for the way they feel as an entity. They are Liberal and they are Anti-Bush. As V of A has advertised here they have naturally received a majority written opinion from the Liberal view, a majority of which is Anti-Bush. Had the advertising not been terminated by KFYI 550 AM (their choice, not V of A’s) I am sure the response would have been a greater number of Conservative writing Pro-Bush articles and espousing a more conservative point of view.

The current over abundance of Anti-Bush conversation on this site is directly proportionate to where the advertising dollars have been placed. As V of A moves into other advertising media and other radio stations there is sure to be a proportionate redistribution of both article content and an abrupt change in the tone of these new writers.

The mention that the current slant of writers on the site is congruent with the current political climate is absurd. The country moved into an Anti-Bush stance. Although there are many who have issues with particular parts of the President’s performance, this does not constitute a Bush bashing feeding frenzy as some would suggest. Current polls tell a tale of disillusion with the President’s policy regarding Iraq, but a strong support for the war on terror. One of the obvious reasons for this is the constant assault by Liberal politicians directed at the President. Second is a almost machine like assembly of mistruths and right out lies about the President’s policies.

One lie has him authorizing torture, another has him lying about weapon of mass destruction which the United Nations verified were present only 18 months prior to the invasion of Iraq. Still more offer some a fairy tale about ease dropping on Americans here at home. Another suggests that the President himself was in charge of the relief efforts after the Katrina disaster.

Some facts would help at this point to counteract the lie machine the Liberals have deployed with precision accuracy.

Fact 1: The President has made it clear that no authorization of torture has ever been given by any member of his administration, this means from the Executive Oval Office to the Pentagon to the ground troops on the ground.
Fact 1A: There were individual military personnel who, acting on their own, committed hazing and other less than tasteful exercises that did give the United States something of a black eye. These people were rooted out and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Fact 2: The United Nations, no later than 18 months prior to the invasion of Iraq verified that Saddam had weaponized chemical and biological ingredients that could be made functional in short order. The United Nations department dealing with nuclear weapons made it abundantly clear that Saddam had in the past desired the materials to develop nuclear capabilities and that he had done little to assure them that he had not tried to re-establish these programs. This, according to the United Nations was the responsibility of Saddam Hussein. All proof of dismantlement of these programs was on the Iraqi governments head, specifically on Hussein’s head. This he did not do. This is the primary justification for the invasion of Iraq. Whether the President says it or not, the United Nation’s lack of strength to enforce it’s own demands created the necessity of the United States to intervene on their behalf.

Fact 3: To anyone who has taken the time to read the FISA provisions it is quite clear that the President was within his rights as the Commander and Chief to authorize the surveillance of phone calls originating outside of the country by known or suspected Bin Laden operatives. In addition his rights do not end at the waters edge. Any calls originating inside of the United States to a phone number associated with these same people becomes suspect and can therefore be intercepted. To not authorize these operations would be a clear dereliction of his duty as President of the United States.

Fact 4: FEMA’s own manuals and informational brochures inform any county, city or province that they will require up to 72 hours to mobilize in the event of a disaster and that the local municipality needs to be prepared to act prior to the federal government’s involvement. This was clearly the weakest link in the Katrina disaster. The local city of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana are to bare the lion’s share of the responsibility pertaining to rescue operations in that area. They are the ones who diverted millions of dollars earmarked for levy construction towards such noble causes like low income housing and education. Noble these might be, but obviously the consequences of the local governments shortsightedness have come home to roost.

The Conservative movement and ideology would have sought to protect the entire city first, then work on the local issues that needed to be addressed. The levy’s would have been secure, but the Liberal policies at work in the state for a great number of years prior have now been found to be wrong. Low income housing and new schools do nothing for a flooded city.

It is no different than the Conservative idea that national security is the most important issue of our day. If the war on terror is not executed to it’s fullest extent, all the Liberal programs of welfare, bi-lingual education, social experimentation, the so called pending environmental disasters, and all the rest will not matter a bit. Bush is fixing the levy’s of America’s safety and the Liberals are hell bent on diverting attention to their pet causes. We have to defend America to have an America to (in the hearts and minds of liberal) fix.

The writer then asked to specific questions which I would like to touch on. Tax cuts for the “wealthiest” and deficit spending. Deficit spending is not a new tool in Washington. The so called surplus “der Slickmeister” left us with was a paper surplus based on Social Security surplus’ that would never materialize. To look at deficits in the simplistic terms attached to them by Liberals is to fall short of the true picture. Spending on non-military discretionary programs have never been cut to begin with, only the projected amount of increase have been cut. So those of you who claim that Clinton or even this President for that matter have ever cut a penny out of the countries spending are sadly misinformed. Deficit spending is a necessary evil during a time of war. Like it or not (and I do not like it) it is something that will happen. How do we get out of it, we grow. As this economy grows the deficit and national debt become a smaller percentage of the GDP. This is the only way to ever get it under control and begin to make progress on eliminating the debt and further reduce the counties dependency on outside investment, loans, to promote the social programs promised by a bureaucracy that, due to their personal fortunes, will never have to rely on.

As for keeping some people from testifying, who has he muffled? People with top security clearances, they should not be placed in a position to divulge delicate knowledge to begin with. All the information the congress needs to do it’s job it has been supplied with for the past four years, if it is the “spying” you are referring to.

Finally, to finish answering your questions, the Humvee is a combat vehicle. Although some were not equipped properly at the beginning of the conflict with Iraq, the situation has been corrected. If it is perfection you expect from your military and elected officials, you should look to God not man. As long as man is running the situation on Earth there will be mistakes.

The underbelly of America’s Liberal party is showing. They are weak and lashing out for anything they think can give them traction. From Cindy Sheehan, who disgraces her sons memory to Ted Kennedy who disgraces his own families name, the Democratic Party is in it’s death throws, and the end can’t come soon enough. The constant embellishment of America’s problems and the unending desire to find the negative within government is becoming an embarrassment. This country is a country of dreams, of people aspiring to be great, a country full of expectation and opportunity. To the Liberal mind it is a country of the down trodden, the poor and the uninformed. They believe that all people are a pay check away from financial devastation and if they are not, they have somehow cheated in the game of life, and if they are actually wealthy, they should give it all back to those they took it from, despite that fact that those who have something in nearly every case, earned every penny of it through their own hard work, sweat and tears. Those who don’t have it, can have it, they just have to reach out and take the reigns, work hard and never let a Liberal tell them they are ill equipped to succeed.

Yes Conservative and Liberal are the perfect label to use. I am proud to be a Conservative. If you were proud of being a Liberal, you wouldn’t fight the label so hard.

But what would I know, I’m just an Average American.
