I posted this alert as a comment this morning but think it qualifies as an article. Please excuse the redundancy.

AZ Moderate has written extensively about the Bush Administration's abuse of power and Rdrover has described how the Bush Administration has been "snagged" by the law as it's drifted about imposing its will on Congress and the electorate. Put yourself in Bush's shoes - what's the real problem here that prevents the Administration from doing what it damn well Bush_Fingerpleases?

If you thought one answer was related to the troublesome notion of Due Process and a legal system involving probable cause and those pesky warrants, what would you do?

Well, one approach might be consolidation of power and removal of the snags with legislation.

A proposed revision to the Patriot Act establishes a new Federal Police Force - the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service - empowered to "make arrests without warrant for any offense against the United States committed in their presence, or for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing such felony."

The Uniformed Division would be "subject to the supervision of the Secretary of Homeland Security." Enough said.

No analogies with Stalin or Hitler, please! This provision is written in English by American elected officials!
