If George W. Bush and his Republican and neo-conservative friends love Iraq so much, I say we send them to Iraq to run that country. Hell, they ran the United States into the ground over the last five years; maybe they'd have better luck with Iraq.
Of course this will never happen, unfortunately for the thinkers among us. However, it's very clear that these Republicans care more about Iraqis than they do about Americans. That's amusing because the Republicans and their propaganda vessel Fox News are constantly waving the flag with their warm and fuzzy patriotic messages, yet they gloss over the unnecessary deaths of our soldiers in Iraq. As Rumsfeld said on The O'Reilly Factor, "It's a shame" that we've lost soldiers in Iraq. A shame? As if the war was necessary in the first place.
Self Interest Groups
Despite the fact that Iraq will be run by the Radical-Muslim party in Iraq, these Republicans insist that the shed of American blood was NECESSARY for freedom AND will make a great chapter in the history books. That's right. Republicans are only interested in the history books along with the short-term benefits as well.
Sean Hannity, a major lunatic on the far right, referred to the recent Iraqi election as "A glorious day for liberty and freedom." Maybe. Maybe not. If Hannity writes the history books, I'm sure George W. Bush and the heroic Republicans who risked other people's kids lives for freedom around the world will be spotlighted as morally solid Christian conservatives who initiated a just "WAR ON TERROR" in the Middle East. I wish they'd be honest about the name of this so-called "war": War on Islam is more appropriate. With that title at least we have a tangible and specific enemy to work with. That should make the story a little more dramatic for those future history books.
Ego: The Leading Cause of War
Once again, the citizens of the world have fallen victim to the politically motivated war cries of their rich and uncompassionate leaders. If Bush and Hitler have one thing in common, it's their use of mass-propaganda machines to get poor people to lose their lives in wars at no cost to the rich who always take the spoils.
Like Hitler, Bush has an inflated ego. He considers himself a savior and of all things, a war hero! His arrogance and disregard for human life is apparent in the way he sends people to war like he's playing one of his video games. In a sense, George W. Bush is an overgrown child out of touch with the reality of death that faces our soldiers in Iraq. Remember his "Bring it on" cry to the terrorists? Tough guy, eh? He is responsible for the deaths of over 30,000 human beings on the other side of the world and it doesn't seem to conflict with his Christian--or human--conscience. Considering his ego, is it plausible that he and his team called for the invasion of Iraq so that he could secure his spot in a history book as a liberator? Do they make bumper stickers for that? Probably not.
Who Put the Idiot in My History Book?
So now Bush's name is primed for the history books and although Republicans will probably write the history books, we'll all know the truth: that Bush is a failure. He is a domestically bankrupt president known for his disastrous incompetence, including 9/11 and the Katrina mess. He's never failed to reject responsibility and let other people die for his ego and mistakes.
But what about all of the Americans who died as a result of the occupation of Iraq? Their names will be on a wall somewhere. Maybe a few will break out of the pack and be mentioned on War Stories with that criminal Oliver North. Whatever happens, they're gone now and the rest of us don't care. Ribbons, stickers, and flags are all we could do to honor them? Who makes money off those things anyway? Those companies probably pushed for the war too. I'll make a note of that.
Finally, a Short Story
The other day I was waiting at a red light near a shopping center and I noticed a tall pole flying the American flag. It was flying high, proudly waving against the bright blue sky--well maybe not blue (pollution has been out of control lately in Arizona).
Anyway, I realized that something was wrong. Whoever was responsible for maintaining the flag must not have been told that American soldiers are dying in Iraq and elsewhere. If they really cared, the flag would have been flying at half-staff that day, today, and tomorrow as long as American soldiers are dying around the world in these conflicts.
But Americans have ADD and are detached from what's going on in Iraq unless they know someone who is over there.
Jesus Died for This?
We don't value human life unless it's our own. We're no different from the savages in Iraq or elsewhere because we're all selfish humans in the end. The difference is that we Westerners are more professional and sterile about the way we kill and torture people. Don't think so? We still EXECUTE criminals, some of which are innocent. We SLAUGHTER animals for fun. We recklessly INVADE countries and KILL innocent civilians then change our reasons to suit the political climate afterwards.
Great stuff, huh? Well, that's what a thousand years plus of Christianity will give you. Savages in suits calling for war is quite a site, but just imagine following a savage wearing a toga. I guess in that sense our standards are higher. And speaking of execution, why does Bush oppose abortion yet he supports war, the death penalty, and torture? Must be part of his Christian values.
Oh well.
Before I forget, I promise to devote individual articles to the subjects of the death penalty, creationism being taught in public schools, and the WAR ON CHRISTMAS. That last one is my personal favorite. As soon as I figure out who's profiting from it and which private citizens among us have been forced to call their Christmas tree a Holiday tree, I'll deliver a comprehensive report on the matter.

Digg It!

You are right about republicans and hystory Bush seems to be trying to find a place in the past. He doesnt realize that hystorians see the greatness in leaders that our looking forward instead of back. A great leader always knows his path and how to get to the end of it. This president goes down many paths that end up running into walls of shame.
Merry Christmas
