I used to be proud of the USA and for 20 years served in the US Army and went where I was told when I was told. (and please don't respond with some inane "thank you for your service").

I was proud to be from this country even when mistakes were made because I believed in the goodness of the American people and their ability to eventually see and correct those mistakes.

I have been proud of the country that did not torture.

I have been proud of the country that did not invade other countries without provocation.

I have been proud of the country that did not sacrifice freedoms for security.

However over the past 6 years I have been saddened and ashamed of the actions of the Bush administration or PNAC. The lies and deceit are well known and too numerous to go over and over again and only tend to make me want to scream and holler which accomplishes nothing. In fact nothing I do will have any effect on the carnage and destruction that is being done to this country and countries around the world all in the name of patriotism and bring democracy to the world. Which is a joke since they are destroying democracy in this country while touting democracy building around the world.

The majority of Americans did not want this Bush in office but he is there none the less and everyone just shrugs their collective shoulders and accepts the rape of their country. Whether or not the electoral system worked or not is another thing but he did not receive the majority of votes from the citizens which means that it was broke and no one even attempted to fix it. Thus 2004 election.

Now we the people of America have had a chance to get these insane people from the PNAC out of office and what do we do? We squabble over whether some minister said God Damn America or not. Who gives a s***! Jeremiah Wright is not running for any office and what he did or did not say or what he meant or did not mean 3 years ago should not have any effect on anything but that's all that is being talked about. Whether there is a god or not and whether he blesses or damns America has no relevance over anything. This country wastes their time over who said what to whom and who had sex with whom rather than what should be addressed. This country has invaded another country who posed absolutely no threat to us. This administration has wasted the good will and money that they had to invade that country and have left the country wanting. They have been more occupied with killing Iraqi's than healing Americans and I am thoroughly ashamed.

There is no real candidate for the office of president this year. McCain wants to continue the madness of the PNAC. Hillary wants to convince people that she wants to get out of Iraq but has continually supported the invasion and aftermath until it became unpopular. Obama claims that he wants to stop the madness yet he also voted to finance the occupation of Iraq and is making noises about invading other countries.

The only candidate that made any sense at all was an individual who wanted a department of Peace and he was dismissed as a kook and ignored by both the democrats and the media.

I am sick of the whole mess and am really tired of reading all the "much ado about nothing" that keeps repeating over and over in my ear.

For all of you arm chair generals that keep touting the idea of spreading freedom around the world by using this county's military might I just wish that you could witness first hand some of the carnage and blood letting that goes on in real combat and then come back and say it's worth it. If you could witness first hand someone's guts spreading out on a battlefield, be it friend or foe, you might be so quick to beat your chest and the drums of war.
