So I'm sitting here watching Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and I'm asking myself, "What game are you going to play when this movie is over?" That question is a difficult one to answer you see because I just got a new game for my Xbox 360 called "Rock Band" and for those of you who are non familiar with it or Guitar Hero (it is like Guitar Hero but with more instruments). It is a game where you have to hit buttons or areas on an instrument-like controller which includes the drums, guitar and microphone as the button scrolls through. I've attached a video from YouTube because it is kind of hard to describe. Never-the-less you've probably seen some people at several stores playing them when shopping during the holiday season. I enjoy playing the drums the most because it is actually a challenge... singing is also fun but only when no one can hear you singing ;).
So anyway, this game is really fun and there is a lot to it but how can you play a game like that after watching an epic movie such as Lord of the Rings? I don't think you can.
So my next option would be Halo 3. I had been playing that game quite a bit until I got Rock Band but it is still a fun game to play. I'm attempting to beat it in Legendary while I take a break from the online crowd (I've played probably 200 online matches). I'm not going to explain Halo because if you've never heard of it you're probably not reading this far into my article. Basically it is just a first person shooter where you have to save the world from aliens as usual but it is a pretty epic game. That said the graphics are kind of disappointing and it is hard to follow LotR with a not so impressive looking game plus the game is too bright after watching a good ol' dark orc fight. Don't get me wrong, Halo 3 is a great game but it just isn't a good game to trail LotR.
Next up, we've got Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Straight to the point with this one. It is a military covert ops first person shooter that really requires a lot of patience. Patience just isn't something I have after watching a 3 hour movie but this game really is a good game and the graphics are something to note. Maybe I'll play this one later today.
Last and but DEFINITELY not least is Gears of War. I know Normalized Vector has this game and I have yet to find him on Xbox Live but I think this game has everything I'm looking for at this time. It is "dark", it is fast paced, it has a great story and the Locusts (bad guys) kind of resemble Orcs and the Berserkers (big bad guys) kind of resemble the Cave Trolls.
Ok, so I may have made my choice half-way through writing this but I think it definitely helped me weigh my options. For those who haven't figured it out, I'll be playing Gears of War.
By the way, my Xbox Live Account is: ECLIPSE 8ball if anyone wants to add me.
Oh, here's that rock band video - I'll definitely be playing that tonight after watching the video.
