What is WRONG with being Muslim?

One of John McCain's fellow POW's in Vietnam defended the war in Iraq, saying, "The _^Muslimshave said either we kneel or they're going to kill us."Colonel Bud Day added: "I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel, and John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel.'

Unfortualtly, this is one of many propaganda statements against Muslims that recently came up.

You know, I have watched, over a period of years, even befor 9/11 the villification of Muslims, and the purposeful failure of the media to seperate law abiding Muslim people from the evil ones who viel themselves in my faith. I remember after the Edward Murrow building was bombed in Oklahoma City, OK, the media was all full of "an Arab man was seen near the building shortly before the explosion..." And now it seems that being Muslim can be used as a smear tactic against a presidential candidate.

Nope, not even Sen. Obama's campaign is free from the fear of Muslims. It had been reported that the Obama campaign seated two Muslim women in the audience behind the podium, in camera view...then other Obama staffers removed ONLY the two women, and placed them in seats that would be out of the camera view. The only thing these two women had in common is that they both wore Hijab. Reference is below...

To be honest with you all, I don't understand it. Most of us obey the law, pay or taxes and simply want the same things as any other American does. Tell me what is wrong with being Muslim. Why are (Americans) so fearful of Muslims.

You may not realize it but we are at war with muslim extremists who want to kill us. It's not a republican talking point it's a fact. Got it? The last thing we need is a muslim running our country. And it's not that all muslims in America are out to get us. Just a few who subscribe to fundamentalist hatred against America and white people. That's why, in the real election, the American people will see through the BS of our American Caliph Barack Hussein Obama and will kick his and his America hating wife's ass to the street where they belong.

Remember 9/11. STOP to the Muslim fundamentalist insurrection in America. SAY NO to Bama in 2008.

again, let's stay on topic. I am asking the question "What is wrong with being Muslim?"...Why can't we seem to seperate law abiding Muslim citizens from the evil ones? What can be changed to maybe dispell some of the negative propaganda?

No Zan... Unfortunately, the leaders of your faith have done little to dispel fears that the the religion you support has at it core a zeal far more oppressive than even the Christian faith had in the and following the Dark Ages. The fact that so many of your religion's customs and laws treat women as secondary beings, speak of the forced conversion at the end of a sword or us infidels and openly taunt both Israel and the United States as Siamese Satans, I believe that our misconceptions as you might describe them, seem quite justified.

Your clerics sit in silence for the most part, save those who openly denounce any association with Israel which I hope you can see might bother most Americans just a hair considering it is the birthplace of the two other major world religions also, not just Islam, which is a bit of a late comer to the God party.

Ya, we are a bit freaked out when the Middle Easterners speak of scraping Israel off the map, desire Nuclear weapons and or power, and sit at the cross roads of one of the planets most necessary natural resources that keep both the world and their little back ally of the planet from slipping back into the Dark Ages again, which seems to be their preference for the way the world should operate.

But we are out of line to feel that way Zan? Here Zan, I'll help you understand how America feels. You find out tomorrow you have a cancer, any one, growing somewhere in your body. The doctor tells you you could learn to live with it, but one day it will kill if it is not taken out. Won't kill you today, might be 20-50 years, but one day, it is going to finally hit a major artery and go straight to the brain and heart.

That's modern day Islam. A cancer that we can learn to live with, but one day, it's going to kill us if we don't take it out first.

Unfortunately Zan, Al Jazera (sp) has done little to help your cause primarily by showing every ugliness your brothers in Islam have performed. When your own people report on it and show it to the world..? I guess now you understand why Abu Graube (sp) should never have been made public. A few bad seeds make the whole bag look sick and twisted. Why should Islam be immune?

There is nothing wrong with being a muslim.

Just like there is nothing wrong with being blonde, Jewish, white, black or a Navajo.

There is a problem with being a violent radical who blows up buildings full of people. Just like the 19 Muslim hijackers on 9-11, or the Christian terrorist Timothy McVeigh, or the Wako David Koresh cult.

The big problem for Arabs and Muslims, because they're such a small minority, what 5% of the US?, that it is easy for racists, bigots and xenophobes to use them as political punching bags; watch Bill-O, that is 85% of his shtick. Timothy McVeigh is mad about Ruby Ridge and Waco, because it offends his Christian absolutism, he talks to Gawd, and Gawd tells him to blow up 500 people in OKC. Then, the Republotard bigots like Bill-O have no where to go, because they actually hate the Feds, the FBI and the US courts, so if a few dozen preschoolers have to die to purge the nation of the stain of the FBI, then thats A-OK in there book.

So some piss and moan that some Islamic clerics are silent on the issues of 9-11, even though they weren't, even the Iranian Ayatollahs were calling for the heads of Al Queda and condemning the violence, when Christian Rightie Fundamentalist hate merchants like Pat Roberts call 9-11 justified for America's sins of homo's, or Hurricane Katrina as Gawd's will for HoMo's but that gets ignored.

Why? Because bigots see the evil in their enemies, even where there is none, and see no Evil in their Fuhrer or televangelist, even while the bastard praises the deaths' of 1000's of innocents.

Thank you for responding to my article. I am really trying to understand this thing that in my opinion has gotten out of hand.

Let me get one thing straight before we continue so that there will be no misunderstanding to my reply to you. I personally do not promote, encourage, support or participate in any violent act against anyone. I do not choose victim and villian based on who the wrong doer is, and certianly will call evil what it is, no matter who the evil doer is.

It seems to me that you have studied Islam through the scope of Christian fundementalism, and not the Islam that I know...and yes proudly hold to. To repeat snippits of the Qur'an to justify all of those things you say Islam condones is known to come from this genre. So, I will have to suppose that you know nothing of Islam, other than that you have learned to justify your feelings about us.

You know AA, as well as you know your name that the media will not report those who speak against violence in the name of Islam. That is not the politics of war. Today, in order to have a "perpetural war" where the "enemy" can't be counted or defined one from the other, we have an ideological war, the same kind of war as in the Crusades. In order for this war to continue, the "enemy" must not be given a human form...in other words, just as the inquisitioners were told to not look into thier victim's eyes, so shall in today's ideological war we shall not give the 'enemy" a human form. And too AA...peace, good works, helping each other, and getting along does not sell cars or up profit margins of the media. So of course, you will not see CNN put a mike in front of a person like me, or a "cleric", or anyone else who wants to stop the violence in the name of Islam. You will see AA that there can be tens of thousands of people in the streets protesting something, and CNN (and the others of course) will focus on the 30 or so being foolish, chanting like idiots, and destroying something.

AA...to be honest with you, that "cancer" you are looking at is really the end of the White Christian European male influence on the world. You know things are changing, and probably more quickly than you or I could have imagined 20 or so years ago. Through this very medium...the internet...the fact that someone in a high place does not have the ability to totally control the conversation means that we are being exposed to many opinions, views of history, (yes, and even the ugly history we all want to avoid) and diverse beliefs. In other words, CNN, Fox MSNBC...or al Jazerrah can't just dissiminate the news, and not expect there to be an exchange of ideas. You now understand that the White Christian European male is a minority in the world, and it seems that what you see as "cancer" is actually a cure for imperialism that has run this poor old world to the brink of extinction.

Just the fact that you believe that Abu Griab should not have been exposed proves my point...you don't like the legacy of evil being tagged to your kind. Too bad AA...it has been recorded, videotaped, and hashed over...and like it or not, it is part of your legacy that hat be stricken from history. That, and many of the other atrocities all of us, Muslim Christian...who ever have been. It is a permanent part of history that can't be banned, deleated, with a single stroke of a pen, as you wish it could. You want me to belive that "a few bad seeds" humiliated those people in that place, and yet you do not denounce it? You want to hide it, and keep it out of public discussion? No AA...everything is fair.

I denounce all evil, all killing of innocent persons no matter who they are. I denounce humiliation, physical and mental torture of others. Do you?

again...thank you for making my point. Islamic fundementalists killing obviously Muslim women. (if your description of this photograph is correct) The radicals, in the name of Islam will kill me too...for the same reason they (according to you) are going to kill these women in the picture.

So postman, thank you for pointing out that all Muslims are not the same. Now I ask you, what did the photographer do to stop this? Isn't he or she complicit in the murder of these ladies by not trying to stop it? Isn't this how you are trying to link all Muslims to the likes of al Quida...because we supposedly stand around and watch it happen?

Again, I denounce killing of all innocent people, without exception of who they are, or reason they were killed. I denounce all forms of torture and humiliation of another, whether physical or mental. Do you?

and we fail again, to stick to the topic and avoid answering the hard questions don't we now? I asked you a question before, and I think it is still pending.

I denounce violence and killing of innocent people regardless of who they are, or who or why they were hurt. I denounce all forms od humiliation, dehumanization, and torture, both mental and physical of any person, regardless of who they are, who tortures them, or for what reason is given.

Postman...Do you denounce the same thing for all?
