As Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue to fight it out, one has to wonder if Mrs. Clinton sees Obama as an insurgent.
I'm not talking about the Muslim question of his faith, you either believe he's a Christian or you don't or you just don't care. I am talking about his Candidate Insurgency.
If so, she may not be the only one. Last week Slate.com Magazine ran a story by Chris Wilson that suggested Obama drop out and give the nomination to Hillary. Here's Mr. Wilson's opening lines:
"Even as Hillary Clinton trails Barack Obama in pledged delegates, the popular vote, and number of states won, she has made it clear that she plans to stay in the race for the nomination. All of which brings me to this logical conclusion: It is time for Barack Obama to drop out."
Now, once you have read the article and his other stories it becomes clear that this was not so serious a comment. He appears, like many Democrat, wants this to just be over. I'm willing to bet Hillary feels the same way. She was supposed to have clinched it all by now, by Super Tuesday at the latest.
That is until the Insurgency started. Think about it. We armed Saddam, we fought Saddam, we killed his machine and another smaller more versatile machine took over to mess with us.
Hillary was instrumental in bringing Obama to the surface of the Sea of Democrats. (Armed Him) Now she has to take him out, but she can't, he just won't go away no matter how hard she and Mr. Clinton try. His candidacy is an Insurgency into the Democratic Party.
With the recent call for Obama to "throe" in the towel, it will probably do about as much good as our call for the insurgents in Iraq to disarm. And Hillary can't launch a surge to root out the Insurgency Leader, in fact she can't even get him to step foot on a stage for a real debate.
Last Throes of the Insurgency... I guess we will see.
But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.

They know that have everything and it will be old news by general election time. 3) The Republicans WANT Hillary. That is why they aren't attacking her. They have all kinds of stuff to roll out if she somehow steals the nomination. I remember Hannity and Limbaugh (back when Hillary was the presumptive nominee) just licking their chops to get a shot at her. Well, funny thing happened. Obama is winning. And now they (the right wing) is doing everything they can to destroy him because they KNOW that he will be a better opponent than Hill. Too bad that you are a pawn in AA's game. But you will learn. |

Haha, so you guys talked about a sarcastic article on the show like it was legit? Get real, until you come to terms with reality everything you post about the primary is irrelevant. I'll try to appeal to your lowest common denominator: You don't reward losers for losing, do you? (Less states won, less votes, less delegates, less money, etc. Hillary's still the best!) Hold your breath until the wheels fall off the bus, that's the only chance Hillary / McCain has. If that's your best option - the republicans got something else on him! - you've lost already. |

Slate's sarcasm aside, I think it's a statement worth considering. Look at the math that matters for the general election; if Obama can't win enough of the blue-collar vote --- this is most important of all in the big swing states and if 15 to 20 percent of Hillary's voters defect to McCain, Obama cannot realistically win. I will not hesitate to bet that he does not carry any those "red" states that he's won in the primaries. He'll get the big states but the swing states, the ones that separate the kings from the beard-growers, those states will see the moderate in McCain and leave a Republican in the White House for at least another 4 years.
Now add on top of that any fallout from the Wright controversy and anything else that could come up later in the fall to doom Obama's candidacy. I'm willing to suggest that Republicans have something else on Obama and they are saving it for the prime time. Don't you have to save your best stuff for the encore?
