Microsoft’s Bill Gates threw his hat into the ring for Google Friday in defense of Google’s kowtowing to the government of Communist China.

“China’s limits on Internet contend and abundance of software piracy shouldn’t deter technology firms from doing business there, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said at a conference in Davos, Switzerland.  As technology develops and Chinese innovations multiply, those problems will diminish, he predicted.  Microsoft, Yahoo and time Warner’s AOL have been criticized for censoring their Chinese sites.   Microsoft rose 5% to 27.79” (Business Briefs – Gates: Censorship not an issue, Investor’s Business Daily, January 30, 2006)

It seems to me that I read some time ago that Microsoft has modified its software (browser, operating system?) to accommodate Communist China’s interpretation of freedom of information.
