About two weeks ago, Voice of Arizona was presented the opportunity to host four one-hour weekend radio shows on 1010 KXXT. We were initially reluctant to commit to the venture due to the uncertainty of the audience's participation as well as our inexperience in radio broadcasts!
Eventually on January 17, with the new additions to the website in place and the necessary funding and format for the show established, Voice of Arizona agreed to the venture. The show was divided into three parts: first, a short overview segment of the website and the various
new features; second, solid debate time with a Voice of Arizona article writer; and finally, a segment spotlighting a business in our Business Directory.
Earlier today, a member suggested that "Average American," who is scheduled to be the first guest member on the show, is a "shill" or "posterboy" for Voice of Arizona. We apologize for any misunderstanding that led to such a claim. "Average American" was simply chosen for the
first show based on the number of especially controversial articles that he has written along with his familiarity among Voice members. All members will be given an equal opportunity to be featured on the upcoming radio shows and if we receive positive feedback regarding these shows, we will be able to justify continuing the program thus allowing more members the opportunity to debate on the radio.
The upcoming radio show is for all members of this website and we hope you all tune in Saturday morning and participate in the discussions by calling 602-230-TALK or emailing us at radio@voiceofarizona.com.

| RE: "second, solid debate time with a Voice of Arizona article writer" (Voice of Arizona) I second Rdrover's suspicions (RE: The Average American's Hatchetjob on Al Gore) because I've had them for a long time. Average American's posts, as AZ Moderate notes (RE: op. cit.), are so dogmatically shallow and unrealistically stupid as to elicit a reaction from even the most casual reader. Devil's advocate? No, I suspect otherwise, a more intimate relationship with Voice of Arizona. AA spends more time composing outrageous treatises of disinformation for Voice of AZ than he does reading or thinking! His responses to contrary thoughts and opposing points of view are right out of the Bush/Rove playbook - he attacks and drags in more irrelevancies - and, like Voice of AZ, above, time after time calls this "debate". I'm sure AA holds the record for column inches published on Voice of AZ but, when assayed for quality, his articles, as well as his posts, are at the bottom of the heap. This has raised questions for me for some time. Is he really a Voice of AZ staffer trying to gin up business? As AZ Moderate observes, AA's articles do generate traffic for Voice of Arizona. The next page in the Bush/Rove playbook is about deniabilty - not "plausible deniability" as in better days. Average American's denials (RE: op.cit.) and yours, Voice of Arizona, just aren't plausible. Agreed, that's the old litmus test, yet, nothing I see so far to justifies giving this Rush wannabe the spotlight or a platform when he represents such a distinct minority of thought at Voice of Arizona. If Voice of AZ wished to gain the reputation as a haven for disenfranchised, thoughtful and well-informed Arizonians, would it sponsor a cretin like Average American as representative of its contributors? This man gives cretinism and Voice of AZ a bad name! And Average American challenges know it all to phone him on Saturday morning. HAH! Republican Kool-Aid drinkers like Average American should be shunned by thinking citizens because they contribute nothing - absolutely nothing - to a debate or discussion of issues of vital importance to Arizona or the nation. Average American contibutes nothing to the solutions that concerned citizens seek. If this were 1995, Average American would be a parody of Newt's Contract With America worthy of Saturday Night Live. In 2006, Average American represents George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Rummie, Tom DeLay, Trent Lott, Bill Frist, Duke Cummingham and every know-nothing, me-too'ist who has sold out Americans to the highest bidder. Today, Average American represents THE PROBLEM confronting Americans and his screen name is a affront. Average American's articles and posts demonstrate he is so lazy or incapable that, rather than presenting a thoughtful, cogent composition after he has the time to create one, he consistently shoots back more rightwing vitriol. I'd expect even worse when he has to think on his feet. Does Voice of Arizona seek to embarass itself? Its contributors? Voice of AZ, I'm sorry. That you've chosen Average American as representative of anything is repulsive! Voice of Arizona's credibility is pretty well shot, too. By the people, for the people? No, Voice of Arizona, your decision has nothing to do with such a highminded slogan. As far as I'm concerned, it's a decision by Voice of Arizona, against the people! | Many of you may have noticed that Voice of Arizona's article content is by far more liberal in tone than conservative and that members such as "Average American" are practically nonexistent. With new advertising ideas, we have tried to appeal to a diverse audience that can use the website to engage in discussions especially before the much anticipated mid-term elections begin. In truth, our attempts to attract more conservatives to the website for the sake of political balance have been unsuccessful. For example, our advertising on KFYI 550 AM, the home to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, resulted in our censorship for trying to entice their conservative audience with the line, "Impeach Bush! This is what the liberals are saying at Voice of Arizona.com." The only proven way to attract more diverse members is by word of mouth from current Voice of Arizona members. Because we value our members and their suggestions, we work to address your complaints and requests. In exchange, we will continue to provide this website as a free and uncensored outlet for you to use to pursue your interests. The new radio show is designed to increase exposure to the website which benefits all of us. "Average American" does not work for Voice of Arizona, nor does "Akman" or "AZ Moderate." It is definitely clear to those of us who really work for Voice of Arizona that most writers on this site disagree with "Average American" and he has been the subject of much controversy over the last several months. You are all free of course to categorize and discredit his arguments whenever you wish; that is the core purpose of this website and the radio show. That is why we encourage you all to call in and talk to him. As we stated yesterday, if the first four shows work out, then we will likely be hosting live shows every weekend with a DIFFERENT MEMBER as the highlighted guest each week. We hope you use the radio show and volunteer as guests for the other three shows, which have not yet been filled, probably because of this miscommunication. | As I've stated in the past, I am neither a conservative or a liberal (no party affiliation actually). With that said, judging from the behavior I've seen from quite a few liberal users on this site, liberals do too much whining and not enough action. I've read how you guys gang up on AA, and I know I've thrown some verbal blows at him myself. I know I'm going to try and listen to the show, can't guarantee it because I'm a busy man, but I'll try. I personally like what VoA is trying to do, I like the idea of freedom of speech and the non-censorship that VoA offers. I like the idea of having people that disagree with me so I can bash on them, and I like the idea of JustJoan leaving this site:) From what I've seen, if there's anyone that hasn't contributed anything useful, it's JustJoan. Here's Joan's idea of an argument... Why don't you just go sit on the porch Hehe, you're one creative individual, or you would be if you were the first one to say it. VoA is trying to get some competition for all of us so we can have some good ol' fashioned debates, and you liberals duck your tail and run like dogs. So why don't you go hide under your porch Joan, and hide like the dog that you are. |

| First, I am not affiliated, in any way, with Voice of Arizona. I like the concept of an open forum consistent with their mission statement but I must question the strategy VOA has implemented it achieve their avowed objective. It's interesting that VOA's political construct follows the Bushies' blueprint. There are the Bushies and there is the vocal opposition which they've labeled "Liberals". By default, the rest are labeled "Conservatives". However, the Bushies, comprised of mostly of NeoCons, a la PNAC, Theocrats and unquestioning lackeys and tools like Limbaugh, Hannity and Average American, have little relationship to conventional political Conservatism. Liberals may or may not ascribe to a liberal political philosophy, they merely speak out against the Bushies' agenda. Conservatives, the Silent Majority, are a melting pot of every political stripe - liberal, moderate, progressive, conservative, Democrat, Libertarian, Republican, Bull Moose, etc, who are either intimidated by the Bushies, don't give a damn or are somewhere in between. Seems to me, VOA isn't interested in drawing in members of the Silent Majority, rather, VOA wants more Bushies! I'd suggest the bait you're using is counterproductive. By thrusting Average American into the ears of KXXT listeners, I'd expect more "Liberals" than "Conservatives" - read that more anti-Bush forces - to show up at VOA. As I said, I am interested in a forum consistent with VOAs mission statement where there is a free exchange of ideas. IDEAS! I must agree with Akman that Average American contributes nothing in this regard - in fact, he detracts from it. Average American's supporters, who rush to his defense when he's taken to task for his outrageous superficiality and his instinctive attacks on anyone opposing his point of view, fail to recognize that some Lefties here at VOA are merely employing Average American's attack strategy against him - and they're better at it! While I believe VOAs strategy for expanding the diversity of the contributor base will backfire, the idea that VOA is actively seeking reinforcements for Average American's mindless rants gets me further from the potential realization of what I seek in a political forum - ideas. I have no interest in wading through even more Bushie trash to locate the gems posted by AZ Moderate, Akman, JustJoan and Rdrover. I also resent Average American being presented as any other sort of representative of a political forum in which I participate. He is the antithesis of what I stand for and I will not let VOA or anyone else imply that I sympathize or even associate with crypto-fascists like Average American. By enabling him to spread his Bushie stupidity even farther, as you've done, VOA will get "word of mouth" advertising from me that you really don't want. But, you've earned it! Last, your carrot of "being selected to be on the radio" has an irresistible appeal to the American Idol Wannabes and talent appears to be way down the list of qualifications. It fails to motivate me because the Internet offers much better forums for the exchange of ideas, 24/7. I regret that Voice of Arizona has failed me in that regard. Please close my Voice of Arizona account, also. Thank you. |

| First, the point of the radio show described in the ad and VOA's posts are pretty clear: VOA wants to get a more diverse group of people----not simply "BUSHIES". Somewhere along the way, a lot of you lunatics have mistaken this multipurpose website for a LIBERAL website. Second, Average American is the only acting "conservative" voice on the site that I've found. The fact that the liberals here want to silence him is interesting. As in the real political world, liberals don't care to debate the other side. THAT'S WHY THE DEMOCRATS HAVE LOST THE LAST ELECTIONS. Anyway, I have evidence: upon reading some of Average American's articles, I noticed that the liberal commentators on the site make little or no attempt to address his "fascist" arguments. They insult him. YOU WON ME OVER GUYS One thing is now completely clear to me today after reading akman, fred, and joan-bitch's comments: you're radicals who want no opposition. "Close my account!" You know how childish that sounds? Why don't you take that fire up your asses and get your lame duck representatives to call for the PRESIDENT's impeachment. Interestingly, VOA gives you this forum to bash whomever you wish, and Bush spies on you and takes away your rights. Hmmm... who should we boycot first? VOA--no question. I do hope new people, not necessarily radicals, come to the site. And good riddance to all of you shallow minded totalitarian liberals at VOA. Out with the old, in with the new! |
