Long, long ago in a land far, far away there was a young prince who believed himself to be a king in waiting. Today this prince is an old man who still believes that his kingship is not just waiting for him, but is inevitable. The Great Late Ralph Nader has announced that he will again siphon off votes from the Democratic Party in the upcoming Presidential Election. I remember the good old days when the only party worried about an old crazy doing this was the GOP and the thorn in their side was Ross Perot, perhaps a little higher on the crazy meter than Mr. Nader, but certainly an equal pain in the ass. We got Bill Clinton because of our spoiler, and we got George W. Bush because of yours. I thought we had evened up the score.
I have a theory about Nader's entry this time around that might be a little hard for many of you to swallow. I think he is working for one of the candidates on the Democratic side. I'll give you a hint, it ain't Obama.
If you look at the political landscape at the moment you can clearly see that the chosen one, Mrs. Hillary Clinton is quickly slipping in both the polls and in the primary vote counts. Hillary is THE one to carry the mantle of her husband's presidency, not Obama. So look at it from Hillary's point of view, "If I can't be President in 2008 do I really want to wait 8 f*@king years to run again?" I will take a guess and say that she will hear a resounding no from her inner child.
So what's a power hungry bitch who is getting snubbed by her supposed devoted followers to do? Rig the election!
If McCain wins Hillary knows she can run, hopefully unopposed in 2012, having dispatched Obama to the losers heap of presidential runners. If this year's election runs anywhere near as close as the last three or four, since 1992, it is completely realistic to think that Nader could pull perhaps half a percentage point from the Democratic nominee. In the last four elections that would have been enough to cause an upset come election day and did in at least three cases, 1992, 1996 and 2000. (Ross, Ross, Nader)
Here we are looking at Hillary's last best hope to stay viable for the next election. Hillary is not about to bow out gracefully, she isn't going to jump on the Obama band wagon without a trump card in her pocket or on the docket.
Those of you who think I am all wet on this one might want to look up the myriad of dirty tricks that have been tagged to the Clinton Machine over the last few decades. You see the Democrats have a Karl Rove too, his name is Bill Clinton, the real brains behind this operation. Bill wants back into the White House as badly as Hillary.
But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.
