Another concern of mine is whether our species can survive for much longer? I mean all of the pollution that we create is killing us. But we also must maintain an economy?

Of course we cannot put one above the other. The real solution is maintaining a balance between economic prosperity and enviromental responsibility.

We must rehabilitate and revitalize the enviroment while at the same time grow our economy. This can be done. President Bush's comment on developing fossil fuels from switchgrass is an example. It cleans the enviroment while at the same time decreases our dependency on foreign oil, thus increasing our safety and strengthening our foreign policy.

another one can be mini biospheres in urban areas, used to grow food and plants that have medicinal benefits including marijuana. We can also develop more efficient ways to retrieve and use rain water and water in general. We can even develop equipment to clean the water that has already been polluted, thus creating a surplus of water.

these are just some ideas.but the real challenge hasd already been stated, balance. Balance like a ballet dancer.
