Let me launch the first offensive against the unfortunate leftovers on the Democratic ticket. Where the hell is the Gravitas of these two buffoons? Two one term Senators(neither of which has finished their first term and neither of which has authored any tangible legislation), one from New York who has never held any other office, locally, state level or federal (Sorry, First Lady doesn't even start to count as a publicly elected office) and one who is from fly over country having served a term or two dealing with localized issues. One has a track record of questionable dealings while the other has a track record of representing people in questionable dealings. Both are Affirmative Action candidates because neither has the resume to lead this country.
So where is the "Gravitas"? I heard that thrown around like a vocabulary test just 7 years ago. Today it means little from the looks of it. I don't like McCain, but at least there is little question that he holds the resume for the job.
Are we to hope as many did with Bush that either of these wanna bes will surround themselves with seasoned professionals who can fill in the gaps and cover for the gaffs that would surely follow either into 1600 Pennsylvania. Ave? I'm sorry, but to repeat what I have heard on this site in the past, hope isn't enough. Hope didn't pan out for many of you with Bush and you saw what came of his implied lack of understanding of what was really going on around him.
Where is the "Gravitas" of either one of these candidates? Is Bill or Ted considered "Gravitas" Is Edwards' possible support of either to be considered "Gravitas", what about Richard's support? I think not.
I could ask where is the Pietas? Oh, I know Hillary is devoted to getting back into the White House, but is it really to be believed that she is doing so for the greater good? She has no record of having done a thing in her life for the greater good of anyone but herself. Her supportive wife act was there for the sole purpose of placing her here, at this time. Obama may well have the pietas for the job, and perhaps even the dignitas for it, but without the "Gravitas", as we were informed by the media just 7 years ago, it may well all be for not, at least right now. I say put Obama back in the class for another 4 years at least, let him write more than a few policy papers and a book dedicated to self promotion and role him back out in 2012.
As for Hillary, haven't we had enough of the legacy Presidency's? The obvious answer aside, she, Mrs. Bill Clinton isn't prepared in the least for the job of being Commander in Chief, let alone head of the Party Dem. She is the lightening rod for the GOP, Conservatives and even the whacked out insider conspiracy theorist groups.
At the end of the day the "Gravitas" issue is at least as appropriate to these two as it was for a two term Governor, raised around the power bases his entire life, with a built in inside track to the private studies of the most experienced leaders in the country. That turned out not so great by the liberal standards.
So how can "Gravitas" matter for someone who at least had a written resume far surpassing these two despite the abhorrent (the Left's description, not mine, at least not completely) outcome of his Presidency, and yet it not matter for the rookies currently representing the Democrats in this election.
Hypocritical? Might be seen that way by many.
But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.
