Where have all the songwriters gone? Long time forgotten. You'd think that the young people of today would wake up and pay attention to the devistation and destruction that their elders are doing to the world. You'd think that seeing a babbling idiot in the oval office with his hand on a nuclear device that has the potential to destroy the world as we know it would wake them up more than the Viet Nam era did to that generation. I, more often than not feel like the newscaster in a famous movie who went outside and shouted "I'm mad as Hell and I'm not going to take it anymore".
I think the reason the younger generation and most of the American People are so complacent is that they don't really see an immediate effect upon their lives and Americans have become pretty self absorbed and much more of a me generation than ever before.
I also think this is the reason why this administration has avoided doing anything that would cause the average american to sacrifice because they know that it would be more difficult to sell what they call a war. If there were a draft and this carnage in the middle east started having an effect upon young men and their parents then we might hear more protests and the songwriters might start imagining all the people living life in peace.
I don't have any answers, just questions, and the questions scare the s**t out of me. I guess the answer is blowing in the wind.
