I'm confused and I'm hoping the collective body of readers can enlighten me on a subject that seems to have the majority of America up in arms. What is so wrong with religion in America? What has happened in the past twenty years that has made religion in America such an evil thing? For over 200 years we've done pretty well with the stance that religion and our nation can live harmoniously.
I'm trying to figure out the inferences that are being drawn between religion and all that is wrong with America. What is the correlation between religion and crime? or religion and economic prosperity? or religion and educational achievement? What in America is broken because of religion?
Thanks in advance for your inputs, both enlightened and fanatical...

As much as I would love to get into this debate, your questions was asked in such a direct and determined fashion that I feel obligated to respond in kind.
NOTHING. Nothing is wrong with religion in America. It is not the cause of all ill in this country. Quite to the contrary, it is our only hope.
