This is just a small portion of my article, that hopefully the Arizona Republic will publish in the letters to the editor. I had a question for the Arizona and Federal government: Why are they afraid of the Hispanic population that is illegally crossing our borders? Do the bleeding hearts of this country not understand that immigration is illegal? Let's not use the term illegal, no one apparently understands what it means, let's say against the law instead. That phrase seems to have a clearer meaning to the public. I wouldn't want anyone to get me wrong now; I don't have a problem with people wanting to immigrate to  the U.S. hell my ancestors did it from across an ocean, and they managed to take the citizenship test. The problem I'm having is the refusal of these immigrants to abide by our laws, that would allow them to become a citizen. It's not like we don't give them routes to choose from, like work visas and green cards. If they got those first it should allot them enough time to prepare to take the citizenship test, but I think the real problem is they don't want to be citizens, they just want what we have and they don't want to have to work for it. At least that was the impression I got at this last protest held in Phoenix on the tenth, especially since they were waving around Mexico's flag. Then they act like they got it so rough here, if they hate it so much why don't they go back to Mexico then? Someone once said, "If you don't love it, leave it." I agree with that totally, and that's how I'm feeling about the whole thing. My other question to the Arizona government was, Why are you playing down to these illegal immigrants? What I mean is why do we have bilingual school and jobs? Isn't this countries language English? Last I checked it was and always has been, so what's the real problem? I'm going to make a shortened quote from Theodore Roosevelt from a 1907 speech he made on immigration. "We have room for but one flag, the American flag, we have room for but one language, English is that language, and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that loyalty is to the American people." The other thing I couldn't understand is why are the Hispanics whining in the first place, every time i see them it looks like they are doing a hell of allot better than I am. They are getting away with every thing they want and the government is allowing them to do it. I have a good note quote in my article to the immigrants that have achieved their citizenship, it was a small congratulations and good luck to them, but a small attempt to get them to agree with the new immigration law, for the simple fact they worked damn hard for their citizenship and the rest of these illegals are using a backdoor method and they should be really pissed off about it. That it wasn't very fair to them and it definitely wasn't right. Speaking of rights as they have discovered from becoming a citizen they were automatically given constitutional rights and in those rights were the right to free speech and the right to hold a protest. Those immigrants holding these protests don't actually have those rights, because they are not citizens. So yet again the government allows them to break another law. If you want to get technical what should have happened at their little protest was everyone there should have been arrested and put in jail until an appropriate punishment had been determined, especially those marching that could not prove citizenship, those that could would of course be free to go. In closing I make a statement that I do consider myself a fortunate person to have been born here, but I didn't make the laws the government did. And if you want to live here or anywhere else for that matter than you need to abide by the laws that have been set in place. Those laws are there to govern and protect you not to punish you. People you are not being punished, that's just the way it is and always has been. This government should not apologize for being the way it is; in fact it should be more forceful in it's efforts to stay adamant about it's immigration laws. Sincerely E.M.T
