Well, it probably isn't my place to say it as I don't post much on sports, but congratulations to Brandon Webb! You just made my autographed ball worth more -- kidding. I would think to congratulate the Dbax, or more properly, whoever it was who saw his talent early and signed him long . . . not sure who that was -- anyone? I would guess the Colangelo/Garagiola Jr. team, but dunno for sure. I had season tickets from the beginning until last year so can honestly say I have watched him pitch many times, and you could see the development and maturation of a #1 starter. Now, if we only had a couple decent #2 or #3's to go with him!

| Indeed. I have an autog. Johnson baseball but not Curt S. Altho, oddly enough, last summer I took my family to a casual restaurant, in Phoenix, and Curt and his wife and kids were all at the next table... we said nothing to them, but when they left I took my 4-yr. old grandson by the hand and outside and asked Curt to shake his hand, which he did with a smile... not important, but I have read how he is aloof (to be polite) but he made friends that day...... as a former season tix guy, I have one of those dual bobble heads of Randy and Curt.... I don't profess much baseball knowledge, but will probably always think that pitching wins playoffs.... and offer the '01 Dbax as proof... and include Miguel Batista and B. Kim in that goup as they had great years then, too. Kim stepped in as closer for Mantei, was not his preferred role, but did it without public complaint and did a fine job, too, I don't care about the HR's in NY, overblown by media, 9-11 hungry Easterners; without Kim that year we don't get to the WS. If you know who should be #2 and #3 starters, please inform Dbax management right away! --KZ |
