| Sorry, but I am coming down on the side of TC and others, if you cant beat them at their own game in here, you dont have a chance out there. The power of language, the framing of debate, the fact that propaganda works and works well, again and again, means that if we cannot reframe, expose and exploit the weakness of what they are selling, we are buying into it. It cannot be ignored, it must have the flesh peeled away and the malignancy underneath exposed to the healing light.
Thanks Tom, for being the devils advocate in debate. |

| What was it Franklin said, 'We have given you a democracy, if you can keep it'? Debate, win and lose, wrangle, jostle, persuade et al. Good for the democracy. Keeping abuse to schoolyards may be the better option, but either way, I am satisfied.

| Adam, It's the battle out there that concerns me more than the ego trips in here. So what good is it to engage in endless verbal conflict with a troll who comes here for the game? What do I learn of language and debate by confronting the endlessly changing thesis? We must chuck the Constitution; we must elect Ron Paul. We must rise up and fight; we must leave the country before the walls come down. What is to be gained by engaging in that masturbation? I did it long enough to realize that the fight between us became the more of a distraction than an education. I believe Phaedrus once said that when you argue with fools, pretty soon it becomes difficult to tell the two apart. Zan's "children bickering" comment made that clear to me. It was time to end this pointless battle that took both of us away from anything important we had to say. I find it hard to think of Carter as a devil's advocate. A devil's advocate takes the opposite point of view as an instructional tool, to illuminate both sides more clearly. He doesn't assume the contrarian view just to be a sniper. |

| Hear Hear Doc Moron, To play the Devil's Advocate is very different than being an obnoxious boar throwing around racist, anti-semitic comments and screaming at everyone that blue is sand, or grapes taste like apprehension or other nonsense for no other purpose than to tear down or ignore the basic realities that modern America rests upon for no apparent purpose other than to draw attention to oneself. |

He doesn't assume the contrarian view just to be a sniper. The NeoCONs and Reichties both are snipers, Remember "we dont always go to war with the army we want...." Tom does demonstrate the strengths of the the NeoCONs and Reichties; propaganda, (which is emotional, not intellectually based), repetition, speaking the language of the common man, all things written about in the NeoCON playbook, Mein Kampf. He does demonstrate the weaknesses of the Liberals and Antheists; lack of 'faith', lack of blind obedience, and intellectualization of emotions. To have to wait until complete destruction to 'prove' the other side wrong, is not a viable option. We have to speak their language, we have to understand their culture, and we have to give them 'vestment' in what we offer. Like it or not, we have met the enemy, and we is they... |
