Wow!  It looks like the VofA site has been commandeered by someone with a bit of a vendetta.  How do you spell “monopolize”?

 

That happened once before, as the old-timers here at VofA may recall.  Good articles were swiftly pushed down the marquee and into the archives by one person’s valueless spam articles in an attempt to deny meaningful participation by the rest of us.  The VofA site designers had the foresight to create the TRASH barrel, and it came in mighty handy that time.  Just a thought.

 

It may also have occurred to some that to comment long and hard on any given article serves only to keep it up on the marquee.  How do you spell “taking the bait”?

 

Now the majority of articles that receive such extensive comment have deserved it, and the comment stream sometimes is even much more informative and interesting than the article from which seed it grew.  But some comment streams seem to degenerate into an ally cat fight of scratching and cat calling.  It becomes tedious after the first forty or fifty bloody scratches and bites.
