A Tribute to The Fallen-Memorial Day

He came home from the war from then on he was silent

Never talking about what he’d seen so much gore and violence

Watching buddies killed and maimed lucky to be alive

But he did his duty returning home to his children and his wife

Grateful beyond words he settled in to a routine of work and chores

Little things in life more appreciated now no need to hurry anymore

He never took for granted that freedom was ever free

Proud in helping to keep America free for you and me

Many soldiers never came back who have died for America’s sake

Who fought against the tyranny that wanted America to break

To all of those who gave their all for the freedom that we cherish

This Memorial Day remember their sacrifices for in vain they did not perish
