Harriet Meirs refuses to answer a supeona and Congress does nothing but debate it.
The administration refuses to provide documents to Congress and they do nothing but debate it.
Albert Gonzales snubs his nose at Congress, lies under oath and they do nothing but debate it.
On and on this administration says F*** You Congress and they just bow down.
Cheney sticks it to the Congress and they just bend over and say how far would you like it.
This administration has been committing high crimes against the country for years and Congress takes impeachment off the table.
I am completely disgusted with this Congress and feel that they are completely worthless. And some wonder why the polls for Congress are so low.

For the members of Congress actually considering inherent contempt, there is the problem of the upcoming congressional recess in August. When someone is held in inherent contempt, theoretically they can detained for as long as Congress is in session. While a recess does not mean a session of Congress is over, it does raise the interesting dilemma of what to do with Bush adoring church-lady while Congress takes their break -- leave her in the basement dungeon with c-rations? If inherent contempt is used, it won't be until after the recess.
If plain old contempt is used, the Democrats better pay attention to procedure, or else the charge will be thrown out without prejudice. First, the Judiciary Committee must vote of contempt charges, and then the vote goes to the whole House. The Bush Administration will no doubt challenge the contempt charges and the matter will be referred to the courts, and will be heard by a Bush appointed US District judge. Now we know another reason why Bush fired US Attorneys in mid-stream. So the whole concept of holding Miers in contempt - conventional contempt at least - may be destined for failure in the stacked courts, and that will be all she wrote. Even if the judge exercised some semblance of impartiality, it would only take one flaunted congressional procedure to toss the whole case out and then we are back to square one. The inherent contempt charge avoids the courts and the risk of that big pitfall, but as I said, we are nearing a month long break, so inherent contempt may have to wait for September, if your Congressman even knows what it is.
The last comment at DU (#21) was good:
The Dems Are Not A Bunch Of Lawless Yahoos, They Are Following The PROCESS and doing it as LAW and PROCEDURE proscribes. If they didn't, then they'd be no better than the lawless scumbags in the admin. Why is it that so few here understand that Congress can't just "go ahead and arrest" anyone they want? There are proper ways to do things within the boundary of law and constitution. It sucks that it takes time, but that's the difference between the Dems and the criminals who call themselves Repubs. Yes, Dems play by the book and at times it may be frustrating to those of us who want immediate justice, but in life, in reality, rarely is there such a thing. These things unfortunately do take time when done w/ in the boundary of law.
