Do any of you remember what we learned in school, back before public education in America was, and I paraphrase here: such as, and the Iraq, South African, it should be for the future, and such as for the Asians. (If this doesn’t make sense to you go to youtube.com and search Miss Teen America, South Carolina)

Back when I was in grade school the march towards equality of outcome in education had already started. Although I did not realize it at the time, those who were having problems in class were holding the rest of us back, therefore the equality of outcome was based on the lowest common denominator instead of the highest possible obtainable expectation. Perhaps this is part of the problem with America today.

In recent years I have been lucky enough to come in contact with a huge number of people who are activist in the purest sense of the word. They are actively trying to change America.  I have met them on both sides of the aisle, holding just about every viewpoint you can have on damn near any subject you want to present. Not all of these issues are of interest to me, but I listen and/or read and lend a hand where I think I might do some good. This brings us to the latest issue that has hit the radar screen locally.

It has not hit with a pounding thud, but with a small foot soldiers constant march. Little by little American business is beginning to accept one very important variation on the way things have always been done in this country; they are beginning to conduct and actively seek revenue from people who can not or simply do not choose to speak or read our language.

I am disappointed that in this country which has been predominantly English speaking for the better part of the last 200 years has allowed for Spanish Radio and Spanish Television to be produced and broadcast over the public airwaves, but I have accepted it as something there was little anyone could do about it. I’m sure by now we have Arabic language radio and TV along with a number of others and I can only hope that the messages coming from these stations is of a benevolent thread and not a quite call to arms. I was then further disappointed when local government started wasting tax payer dollars on printing bi-lingual ballots for our elections. Termed at the time as a way to get more voters involved, it was thought that by doing this more naturalized Americans would get involved in the body politic and take a greater role of exercising their rights in their new homeland. ACLU forbid we expect them to do what every other group of immigrants has done in this country and actually learn the language in order to feel more a part of this new land.

Then a few years ago I noticed the junk mail that I receive started being printed in both English and Spanish. This just irritated me but I thought well, if a company wants to spend its revenue on something to gain more business from a part of the nation it might otherwise not be getting, that’s their right to do so. It’s not public funds their spending so who am I to tell them what to do with their profits. This of course reached a head with the Multi-Cultural Yellow Pages which I believe Quest puts out. I also determined at that time that I would personally no longer do business with any company that panders to the non-English speaking minority of this country as it is my right to decide who I do business with. I only wish I could decide what taxes to pay based on this same test.

Since then I have watched the once immense list of American companies I would be proud to do business with shrink. I am a Chevy man. My Tahoe is one of my self serving needless gas guzzling environmentally reprehensible Republican status figures that I enjoy most of all, but GM now has Spanish Billboards in this town promoting their new 2008 line-up of cars. Ford lost me with the Festiva. (it’s a joke, like I was ever going to drive a car that small and fuel efficient) Wal-Mart, JCPenny’s, Mervyn’s and just about every other major and minor retail store now panders as well, as does damn near every business I go into. The computer I am using right now is built by HP and I noticed after I bought it that the operating and installation instructions were in Spanish on the back side. And I’m sure Microsoft has left the reservation too. Hell, two of the most listened to songs from country music last year were one about a Mexican girl by George Strait and Kenny Chesney’s little number about living in Mexico. So what’s a Red-Blooded American supposed to do?

Find peace in the one American institution that still stands for the English speaking American, the National Rifleman Association, the good ole’ NRA. WRONGO!!!!!

Allow me to share a short tale from a friend…

The NRA recently endorsed our fine upstanding Sanctuary City creating Mayor, Phil (just let them come on in) Gordon. They posted this on their website, both the English and SPANISH sides of it. When some of my informed friends called the NRA to ask them why they would endorse a man whose views on immigration were so wrong headed they were informed that immigration is and I quote, “the NRA didn't look at immigration as an issue; the only thing the NRA looks at is a stand on the 2nd Amendment”. The NRA representative went on to explain that a large number of gun owners in the US are Spanish speaking. As my friend said, “that's just fine, and they can speak Spanish at home.....but if the are AMERICANS, and even if they were naturalized, they should be speaking English and the NRA needs to stop pandering”.

The conversation at that point was essentially over. The NRA representative told my friend that endorsements were under the control of the NRA’s California organization (which may help explain the stupidity of it all) and to cal there if she didn’t agree. Instead she told them what her plan was which included not re-upping her membership next year.

What else do we have to lose for those coming here to fell included? Should I change my name to Premedio Americano, or Americano de Premedio?  They came here to join this country not the other way around. If we go there or anywhere in this world we have to adjust our lifestyle to the local cultures lifestyle.

It makes me sick… Melting Pot, not anymore. Anymore we have a short order grill where you can order up the America that makes you most comfortable... Assimilation is futile.

But what would I know; I’m just an Premedio Americano.
