As we have learned form "Know it All", the state is trying to raise taxes again. Thank god for Bush and yet another tax cut. If not for the earlier tax cuts this economy would have come to a screaching halt. There is so much waste in Washington and at the state level that it is truely discusting. I know when I was short on money, (which really never happens anymore since I am a republican white guy) I would have to choose what things I would cut out of my budget.

Why can't the government, state and federal, have to do the same. And don't feed me this we spend billions a month on the war, it represents very little of our actual national budget. We spend far more on poor people who will always be poor because they make bad decisions about their life than we ever have on this war. Social programs, not this war will cause our eventual backrupsy.

I know that this latest tax cut will not effect a whole lot of you, it is designed to help your employers, that's right, the rich people who are the ones who sign your pay check. Investment tax rates needed to come down. That way the rich white bastards can hire more of you lazy whinners and pay you even more money and force you into a higher tax bracket. Maybe then you will see the devistation that high taxes really ravage on this country by holding it back from it's true potential.

By the way, if you feel that tax cuts are bad, there isn't one single provision stopping you from paying more. Write the biggest check you can and send it on to the government. If you really cared like you claim too, you would be personally sacrificing to help pay for all these social programs instead of the government having to take it from you.

Makes me sick. You want to help so damn much, don't force the government to do the dirty work for you, do it yourself. As a rich (top earners in this country make more than $100,000.00 per year) White (yep, I am a caucasian a******) middle aged (21-45, the only group of people without a special right spelled out to protect me) male (right again, I am an evil man, running the show) I refuse to pay more. I will come up with every damn loophole I can find to avoid paying for immoral social programs that steal digity away from all races, all creeds, all peoples.

If you are so damn smart, figure out how to run this country without punishing success. That's all you do when you raise taxes. Where the hell is my incentive to work harder, just so you can take it from me and my kids. I don't think so. I work harder to afford a good tax attorney to shelter my earnings from you leaches.

Thank you Mr. Bush for giving me some reason to earn more, I want to take advantage of every cut you make. The rest of you can line up in a single file line or tandom to kiss my big, rich, white wallet.

For the past 15 years my contribution to every lazy butt head in our country is right at 47%of my income. Yea I complain about giving up half of my income, but what really eats my ass is that have to so I can Keep my s***.If only the rest of the people in oure country would pay a fare share Maybe I would only have to give up 40%. 7% might not seem like a lot but its more than 50% of the people pay now. This is the price I pay to write this stuff on this website.

The Top 50% pay 96.54% of All Income Taxes

(The top 1% pay more than a third: 34.27%)

This is the latest data for calendar year 2003 just released in October 2005 by the Internal Revenue Service. The share of total income taxes paid by the top 1% of wage earners rose to 34.27% from 33.71% in 2002. Their income share (not just wages) rose from 16.12% to 16.77%. However,
their average tax rate actually dropped from 27.25% down to 24.31%

*Data covers calendar year 2003, not fiscal year 2003
- and includes all income, not just wages, excluding Social Security

Think of it this way: less than 3-1/2 dollars out of every $100 paid in income taxes in the United States is paid by someone in the bottom 50% of wage earners. Are the top half millionaires? Noooo, more like "thousandaires." The top 50% were those individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $29,019 and up in 2003. (The top 1% earned $295,495-plus.) Americans who want to are continuing to improve their lives, and those who don't want to, aren't. Here are the wage earners in each category and the percentages they pay:
The top 1% pay over a third, 34.27% of all income taxes. (Up from 2003: 33.71%) The top 5% pay 54.36% of all income taxes (Up from 2002: 53.80%). The top 10% pay 65.84% (Up from 2002: 65.73%). The top 25% pay 83.88% (Down from 2002: 83.90%). The top 50% pay 96.54% (Up from 2002: 96.50%). The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.46% of all income taxes (Down from 2002: 3.50%). The top 1% is paying nearly ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%! And who earns what? The top 1% earns 16.77% of all income (2002: 16.12%). The top 5% earns 31.18% of all the income (2002: 30.55%). The top 10% earns 42.36% of all the income (2002: 41.77%); the top 25% earns 64.86% of all the income (2002: 64.37%) , and the top 50% earns 86.01% (2002: 85.77%) of all the income.

The bottom 50% is paying a tiny bit of the taxes, so you can't give them much of a tax cut by definition. Yet these are the people to whom the Democrats claim to want to give tax cuts. Remember this the next time you hear the "tax cuts for the rich" business. Understand that the so-called rich are about the only ones paying taxes anymore.

I lifted this from another web site. The truth hurts us all. How much more of a fair share do these people want us to pay?

Don't need to. National debt and deficits are both based on our economy being stagnant. It is not. Increases in the size of the economy render the numbers somewhat superficial. YO might look up "waste" or "working within you budget". These are the problems. Every time Reagan cut taxes the governemtn purse swelled with money, the deficit grew because the congress spent even more. Bush's mistake has been in not forcing congress to cut the budget for things we don't need or on programs that have ran for 40 years without success. Most of the programs are worthless and do little if anything to help. But people will cry foul if they have to sacrifice anything. The rich (household making over $50,000.00 per year) sacrifice an average of 50% of every dollar they make. That is a sacrifice. Where's the fair in that. I am not rich in the classical sense, but I am damn sure that me paying half my income in taxes and the guy down the street paying nothing because he has a lousy job because he didn't take advantage of his public education or still blames mommy and daddy for spliting up or fighting in front of him 20 years ago, is not even close to being fair.
And if I sound cruel, get over it. The constitution guarentees an equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.

I think it is interesting that only myself and 2 others have answered this question in the poll. Are you liberals afraid to tell us that you want 50, 60 even 75% tax rates? Hell, it's what you all want, be honest, be free, be...LIBERAL. Admit it.
Scary thought though, if you think it should be less than 25% allow me to be the first to welcome you to the recovery period after kicking the liberal habit. Soon you will want to succeed on your own without government help. You might even want to make money, teach others to provide for themselves and start to get interested in where your tax dollars are going. Don't be afraid, it is normal to fear these new, clear and logical thoughts. Next you will move into wanting to save the innocent unborn and have the beginnings of a belief in God. We will help you every step of the way, until your full recovery is complete and you have voted Republican. WELCOME.

The silence may be because most readers passed Econ. 101 and understand the appropriate use of deficit spending and how the Laffer Curve, as well the Supply Side VooDoo Economics that was touted by the Reganites, has been thoroughly discredited.

On the other hand, it may be a simple vote of no-confidence in your ideas, in general.

Hard to tell, isn't it?

Indeed it is, but the prompting worked. At laest some of them, possibly even you, finally weighed in on the issue. that's all I was going for. and it looks like at least 44% of usget it. I fear for those who voted above 25% and I really hope those voting 50% or higher don't vote.
