Since 9/11 President George W. Bush has shown himself to be a “Strong Leader”. As our “War President”, he has exercised extraordinary powers.
To this end, Dubya has exercised and amplified the power of the presidency so that he can:
o designate any American citizen an illegal enemy combatant;
o make any American citizen disappear indefinitely without charge, legal counsel or recourse;
o torture terrorists (and illegal enemy combatants?) as he sees fit;
o monitor any American citizen’s medical, library, bank and other records without their knowlege or consent;
o secretly tap any American citizen’s telephone and other electronic intercourse in an unwarranted way;
o disregard the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill of Rights, Congress and international law - for the good of the American people;
o disregard the American people for their own good;
o in fact, do whatever he danged well pleases without regard for the law - laws that the American people support and obey!
As with his tax cuts for the wealthy, he will make this “war” permanent to consolidate his power to protect the American people.
Oh, by the way – he is considering changing his name. Henceforth and forthwith forever more unto the end of his reign Dubya will expect to be hailed as Dubius Maximus Erectus. Hail yes!

If torture is so wide spread, where are the charges, why has the media not found a single name they can tout on the daily news show, describing this persons terrible ordeal?
Tax cut for the wealthy, not. His tax cuts were directred at those who pay taxes, the poor don't. How much of a tax cut should a person get who qualifies for the earned income credit?
As for the Presidents disregard for the bill of rights, what has he done? Name me a right you no longer have due to this President. I can only name one, freedom of speech pertaining to elections. McCain Feingold is a direct assalt on the first amendment. But I never hear any of bitch about that one. WHy is that?
AzModerate, you are sounding more and more like a liberal reactionist than a free thinkning moderate every day. I hope you are not putting down roots in the Liberal Democratic Party side of things.
