She was an accomplished medical teacher.  And she was a respected Catholic Nun.  She was the archetypical disciplinarian in a black habit.  But despite her own strict submersion of her own thoughts and emotions to higher authority, she revealed to us in a conference that she retained the ability to think independently.

She was addressing the group on some issue.   I don’t remember what.  The one thing she said that did stay with me all these years was “If I am going to have an opinion, the Archbishop will give it to me.  She was a gifted intelligent individual wrapped in an Iron Maiden of ideology, and when that flash of humor escaped through the visor in her armor it lit the room up with laughter.

So I am reminded of her often when I read about talking points, a particular GOP tool that relieves the flock of any responsibility for turning the attic light bulb on now and then.

Heaven forbid that these rightwing sheep in wolves clothing should have examined the issues and have a thought not given to them by the Bishop of Bulls*** In their particular political diocese.

Ok all you, zealots bend over and let your puppet master jam another talking point up your sock.
