I personally would like to thank those who took the time to make up the "Iraq Study Group".  Finally, some sensible voices are being heard, and debate can begin in ernest.  Perhaps it is a bit too late to change what has already happened.  My personal belief is, that if this debate occurred before the war began, we would not be in the mess in Iraq now.  For once it is nice to be able to say I am against the war in Iraq and not be riticuled or my patriotism questioned.  I am now a mainstream voice.  It is wonderful.

But now, we must look ahead to fix what is broken.  Of course, some will still remain stubborn in thier posistion about "the noble cause" and "stay the course" (no matter what new  creative phrasing they may find for the sustaining of the current approach in Iraq), but thier voices are being looked at more and more like the people who continue to belive that the devil causes illness.  Sensebility, true and frank debate, and perhaps a resolve that does not cost much more damage to the reputation of the US, more lives of the soldiers, and more innocent lives of Iraqis.  Of course, to a lesser extent, damage to the economy of the USA by continuing in debt by throwing good money after bad.

I think that we must recognize that the Democrats who have new power since the last election cycle will not have any magic potions to fix the war in Iraq right away.  The truth is, that President Bush is the boss, and no matter what the congress might want, he really is "the decider".  At least though, it will not be heald in secrecy of his contrary tactics anymore.  Everything he does will be brought to light...we hope.  Perhaps holding the power of the purse will be a bargaining tool congress will use to help resolve this issue.

No matter what you think of the war, your opinion of the policies of the war, or the intent of this war, we have to deal with reality as it is now.   We can't go back.  We also know that what we have been doing is not working.  I think that no matter what you think of the report, this part was clear.  Time to try something else.

Of course...we REALLY don't need an expert to tell us that...DO WE ??!!

Peace Be Unto You...
