Is this swaggering quick-draw Texan in the Oval Office ready to shoot from the lip again?!? If that is all there is to this Cheney chicanery, then we can take a deep breath of relief. But this mess making messianic moron may actually be planning to take on Iran. Unbelievable!
Seymour Hersh of the New Yorker magazine has stirred up a storm of controversy that has only increased in intensity. He has suggested that the Bus***e regime is planning possible tactical nuclear strikes on Iran’s nuclear research facilities. Of course old Lying Lips rejects that assertion as wild speculation.
Now, while some might believe Lying Lips over a respected, if occasionally controversial, writer who gained credibility by exposing the abuse of prisoners in Abu Ghraib on Bush’s watch, the persistence of the story and the Bus***e inability to refute it argue for reading between the lips. Has this Bus***e regime been caught yet again with its pants down priming the oil pump?
Iran is not the third world pushover that the Bus***e Bullies favor. For one thing, we are stretched pretty thin militarily in Iraq and around the world. And of course the “Yer fur us or yer agin us.” attitude that emanated from the chicken hawk coop three years ago is now coming home to roost. We can’t hope for any support from a disgusted world in yet another ill-advised expedition by this short round in the Oval Office.
For another thing, Iran can cause considerable mayhem locally in Iraq short of conflict. The Bus***e regime, for some obscure reason, is urging the Shiite coalition that won the January election to nominate Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister. Mahdi represents a party that is widely considered to be an Iranian proxy. Go figure.
And regional mayhem is also on the menu if conflict is initiated. Iran is openly pushing ahead with not only its nuclear development, but also with its conventional weapons programs. It recently tested new weapons, including:
o a multiple-warhead missile which may be able to evade radar, a direct threat to America’s proxy in the middle east, Israel;
o a “highly destructive” torpedo that could be used against commercial traffic and warships in the Persian Gulf.
And it is know to have WMD in the form of chemical weapons, and possibly biological warfare capability.
Global mayhem is also on the table. Iran’s access to the Strait of Hormuz, through which much Middle Eastern oil is shipped, gives it huge leverage to disrupt commercial oil shipment. And Iran itself is the source of a not insignificant percentage of the world’s oil supply.
On top of all that, it is believed that Iran has leverage with Hamas and other terrorist organizations that might have sleeper cells in place around the world. A word from Iran could cause plans that surely are already in place to be triggered.
Although many have predicted that Iran was next on the Bus***e hit list, it is inconceivable that we are now at this point actually discussing it as a real possibility. But then St. George would have been inconceivable five short years ago!
Armageddon anyone?
