Sorry I have'nt written in a while, but I have been busy trying to get my business ventures off the ground, which is my grip today. How in the world do our leaders expect this economy to grow when they make it so difficult to obtain finances to start ventures. I have gone to the SBA. I have gone to the banks. I have gone to the venture capitalists. All for not. Repeatly I have been shot down as I go through the blood sweat and tears of presenting a good solid business plan to them.

My next step is to recruit door to door and letter by letter. I have already selected neighborhoods and businesses that I am willing to target for potential investment.

But back to my rant.I have heard of business grants but they all are frauds and I have been told that the government does'nt allocate funds for business grants. This should change. All big business started out as entreprenuering ventures and they should allocate helping hand funds (aka grants) to allow new life blood to flow in our ever happy capitalistic society. This would dramatically create new jobs and bring in new tax dollars to munincipalities and the state and as well as our country. If these politicians were really thinking about themselves and about us they would do this and it can be done without drastically raising taxes. It can be done with cooperation with the universities of this state and this country.

Anyway that is all for my rant.Now I am gonna pull out my map and target the business community tommorrow as I enact my plan to start my business.I think I will target Mill Ave.

I think the guy who start Kentucky Fried Chicken got turned down over 1400 times before someone took a chance and fronted him the cash. Keep trying.

This is one scary article.

In one sentence you go from a socialistic idea to capitalism as if they are interchageable. "All big business started out as entreprenuering ventures and they should allocate helping hand funds (aka grants) to allow new life blood to flow in our ever happy capitalistic society." Why on earth should business be forced to set assets aside to help you. Most had no help in the beginning, that is the risk you take for the opportunity to reap the big rewards.

Then you slipped and revealed your real plan to finance you business, higher taxes. "If these politicians were really thinking about themselves and about us they would do this and it can be done without drastically raising taxes."

It is scary how you can expect a hand out while advocating a hand up.

You should concentrate on getting capital the old fashion way, sell the product or service and prove its profitiblility, then move into the financial sectors with a proven record, even if it is a short record, number don't lie.

What kind of business are you trying to open?

seems to me starting a business is a lot like trying to make it in the music world. it depends on your genre, or in this case your business. the problem is that people wont let the old dogs die, because they have loyalty to what has brought them what theyve been searching for in the past.

lets take ozzy for example. im going to place ozzy in... walmarts shoes. now lets say i start a band. and for arguments sake lets just say that my band is like 10 times better than anything ozzy could ever pull out of his ass. picture me as albertson's. my band is well known, and were pretty f***in good, but ozzy has been around for a hell of alot longer than i or my band has. so his fan base is like ... woah, compared to mine. now if i keep working at it my band could could potentially sky rocket and surpass ozzy. but without time and streneous amounts of effort i wont make it to the top and i will start dying out. yet ozzy will continue to keep his general fan base, eventhough his music sucks and he pisses and s***s himself on stage because he has little control over those bodily functions. much like walmarts greeters. anyway you get the point

and im not sure why i explained it that way... and im pretty sure you already knew that... im half asleep at the moment. also in a great deal of pain.

come to think of it i havnt written anything lately either... hmm... any topic ideas are welcome :D

First, I think your understanding of lending is offbase. Banks lend money to people who have demostrated a track record for paying back creditors. I'm sure if your biz plan was really rock solid, and you had great credit you'd have a loan from Chase or Wells Fargo in less than a week.

Second, try a micor lender outfit, for loan amounts less than $10k, or go to your CPA or financial advisor and ask if they know any angel investor outfits or individuals who are willing investors, if you need more than $10k.

Third, raing taxes to give people who can't meet these first 2 hurdles isn't a sound use of the people's money.

Wow. AA and Phaedrus on the same page about something, and I agree too!

I'm sure AA will disagree about this however. Unless you are Mobil-Exxon, money is tight. When the economy is healthy there is ready access to venture capital and somewhat easier access to small business loans. When the economic health is not so good, these sources tend to dry up. The realtionship between the venture capitalist and entrepreneur is by its nature cyclic, and this is one of those places where I do not see the imperative for government to be overly involved.

Government should provide to the basic needs of its citizens (we are not), should enforce fair competition in the workplace and keep it safe, and monitor and regulate fair lending practices. It shouldn't have to step in during the lean times to use tax payer dollars to subsidize start up ideas that the private enterprises deem too risky.
