Questions that the American press corpse won’t ask the President, but I would like to ask and get a real answer:

1)      Mr. Bush in the 2000 campaign you said this about the “high” gas prices:
'I would use the capital my administration will earn with the Kuwaitis or the Saudis, to convince them to open up the spigot,' Bush said. 'That's where we will get immediate relief.'" [Houston Chronicle, 6/28/00] and this "What I think the president ought to do [when gas prices spike] is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots...And the president of the United States must jawbone OPEC members to lower the price." [President Bush, 1/26/00]
Have you “jawboned” OPEC members and if so, why hasn’t it worked?

2)      Mr. Bush, in Dec 2004, you signed a bill that included hiring 10,000 new border agents beginning in 2006.  Your 2006 budget included funding for only 210.  Why did that happen?  Did you not consider border security a national priority? If so, why are you now sending 6000 National Guard troops to our southern boarder now?

3)      A number of Americans were killed or seriously sickened by the Anthrax attacks of 2001.  When was the last time you were briefed on the investigation and what has your administration done to make this a top priority?

4)      A year ago this month, Cheney said the “insurgency in Iraq was in its last throes.” Did you agree with his statement at that time?  If so, why was he so wrong? And if not, why didn’t you refute it so as not to give false hope to the American and Iraqi people?

5)      The Clinton administration warned your administration that terrorism and particularly Bin Laden would be the most time consuming items in your administration.  You appointed Cheney to head a committee to investigate terrorist threats to our country.  Why did this committee not meet until after 9-11?

6)      In a 2000 debate you said this: “I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation building core from America? Absolutely not. Our military is meant to fight and win war. That's what it's meant to do. And when it gets overextended, morale drops”  Do think that our armed forces now have low morale now after more than 3 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, essentially doing nation building?

7)      In the same debate you said this “I think the United States must be humble and must be proud and confident of our values, but humble in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course.”  Do you believe the US has been humble under your leadership?

8)      Mr. Gore predicted large deficits if your tax cuts were enacted. He said in a 2000 debate, “I think the point of that is that anybody would have a hard time trying to make a tax cut plan that is so large, that would put us into such big deficits, that gives almost half the benefits to the wealthiest of the wealthy.”  We have record breaking deficits. Was Al Gore right?

9)   Finally, sir, opinion polls show that a great majority of Americans disapprove of the way you are doing your job, and recent polls show that the majority of Americans don’t approve of you personally.  How do you propose to lead this nation when the majority of Americans don’t think you can do the job, and don’t like you personally?
