No matter what you think about Russia and their doings in Georgia in the past week,  let us understand that it was a response, and it did not start last Friday.

Ask yourself something that it seems the media, or the "administration" is not asking.  Why did the Georgian government send the Georgian military to bomb a Georgian city when there was no military threat?  Even if the Russians exaggerated the number of civilians killed in the Georgian act against it's own citizens, does it justify even killing one?  Doesn't this whole mess seem odd to you?

Doesn't it also see odd that the President of Georgia, when it was obvious that the Russians were responding in no uncertain terms to the incident in mass and in force, and no help was coming to repeal the Russian military that he would call on John McCain for help by name,  instead of President Bush who is the commander and chief of the military?  What was the belief of the President of Georgia about who John McCain was, or what influence he had?  Did someone write a check they expected John McCain to cash...and found after it was too late that John McCain had insufficient funds?  Isn't it also strange that almost word for word, the President of Georgia and John McCain would use the same "creative phrasing" in their public addresses...phrases like "nations don't invade nations in the 21st century".  Another thing I have noticed is the Katrina like response to the Russian response, almost as if it was not expected by the "administration".

Whatever the cause and the consequences of the Russian response, it has done a lot of damage to the Bush doctrine in regards to foreign policy.  It has exposed American weakness in response to real threats to our allies, European energy supplies and the interests and infrastructure of democratic institutions in the Baltic states surrounding Russia.  You can be sure that the working together in the Security Council to contain Iran is for the most part over, since the Russians MUST cooperate to be sure the sanctions work to change their minds if they are thinking about producing nuclear weapons.  The really sad thing is, our enemies are also watching this, and it will probably embolden them to try something.  I think it is VERY IMPORTANT at this time for our allies and friends to take notice of the lack of meaningful response to thr Russians Georgia this past week.

Lesson here is...don't pull on the bear's tail while naked.  He doesn't speak democracy.
