PUT BLAME WHERE IT BELONGS
As someone who loves animals as much as anyone I have come to notice though the tactics of extremist groups who attack any and all people who breed dogs or cats. In their mind there seems to be no common ground on who is at fault for the over population of animals. They are acting on emotions and not common sense. In their passion towards blaming breeders for all animal overpopulation they are conveniently shifting the blame tothose who areonly exercising their individual rights. They have come to lump all people who breed dogs or cats in to the same category as if there is no legitimate breeder at all.
What constitutes a legitimate breeder?-- Those who breed for the love of one breed of animal(dog, cat, or whatever), those who are concerned about the health of their animals, those who keep meticulous records with timely vaccinations and vet checks, those who are interested in the advancement of a particular breed of animal, those who keep sanitary conditions and a comfortable environment with food, shelter, and water and who have a solid return policy for their animals down the line. A non-legitimate breeder?-- Those who breed many breeds, have poor sanitation, mediocre health records at best, dogs or cats in and out for the moneyand no concern for genetics or the advancement of the breed.
I find it appalling that all these extremist groups such as PETA and many individuals are willing to take away the rights of any breeder as a catch all way of solving pet overpopulation. To a caring, sincere breeder that sells any dog or cat or any Rescue Group that adopts out any dog or cat, the paramount condition is that the person buying it or adopting it be committed to keeping their animal for the life of the pet. If everyone who adopted any dog or cat or purchased any registered breed would commit to that there would be no overpopulation of animals. The true breeders who are sincere about it would still have their rights to breed as a dog or cat fancier for the right clientele and the puppy mills and backyard breeders, who breed with no thoughts of the future welfare of the animals would go out of business. This shifting of the blame to breeders just by virtue of their breeding and letting the irresponsible pet owner off the hook is plain and simply notreasonable. This catchall condemnation of all breeders and wanting a blanket shut down of their rights is plain and simply not right. This dictatorial and totalitarian approach may work well in
Put the blame where it belongs. On individuals who are irresponsible for their pets and at the first sign of any inconvenience dispose of their animals like trash at the shelters. This is the true cause of animal over-population and nothing else. Shifting the blame to the breeders is convenient for the extremists who find it easier to blame them than the whole population of irresponsible pet owners.
