Vice President Cheney and CIA Director Porter Goss urged Sen. John McCain to support an exemption because “the president needs maximum flexibility” to torture people in secret dark places.

These evildoers are at it again. The Bush push in Congress for a rewrite of article 3 of the Geneva Conventions is insane. If he gets his way, what’s next? Who's next?!?
These evildoers are anti-American. They who talk so glibly about values would roll back the very bedrock values that make America so different from virtually all that has gone before in human history. They are in league with Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Genghis Kan, and the legion of evildoers that stretch back through recorded human history and beyond. What an August body of human scourges George W. Bush, Cheney and their minions belong to.
Where the Hell did they come from? Where the Hell are they trying to take us?!? What the Hell are we even debating the use of torture for?? Wasn’t that settled in our Constitution!?!
The Nazi party instituted a new order on the German state where:
o Fear was promulgated constantly.
o Loyalty was valued over competence.
o Government business was done in secret.
o The power structure was riddled with cronyism.
o Dissent was not permitted and was punished severely.
o The party claimed a higher moral purpose to justify its actions.
o Hitler cloaked his actions in messianic revelations (fulfilling a higher destiny)
o The ends justified the means (e.g., torture, concentration camps, aggressive war)
o The party and the industrial-military complex were mutually supportive and profitable.
Sound a little familiar?

Truman.
There are many warnings to us in such quotes. The problem is, I think the Bush adminstration takes them not as warnings, but as advice.
