“If intellectual dishonesty could be said to have a face, I saw it Tuesday evening as I watched Bill O'Reilly's program on Fox News.” (The impenetrable fog of Bill O'Reilly, Don Wycliff, Chicago Tribune, June 22, 2006)

Don Wycliff is associate vice president for news and information at the University of Notre Dame. He wrote this article for the Chicago Tribune. He also teaches media criticism there. Such credentials suggest that he is some kind of expert on ethical journalism. He goes on to say: “O'Reilly wasn't just mad about what had happened to these two young Americans; he wanted something done about it. We've got to get tougher and more aggressive, he opined. Outfits like the American Civil Liberties Union and Air America need to be ‘exposed’…"

This seems especially germane this Friday evening because tomorrow, Saturday, June 24th, Voice of Arizona hosts the Executive Director of the ACLU of Arizona, Alessandra Soler Meetze, from 10:00-11:00 am. Everyone should tune in because Alessandra will expose the ACLU’s mission.

Please alert Bill O'Reilly's little disciples, if you know of any, so that they can get in on this expose’ of the organization.

When I hear O'Reilly facetiously ask for the liberals at Air America to be taken away in handcuffs, when I hear him say if he were in charge of Iraq he would take anyone out past curfew and put a bullet between their eyes, and when I hear him threaten so-called totalitarian anti-Christian forces in this country with his righteous retribution, I hear Hitler.

That this man is on television is in and of itself digusting. That he still is the highest rated News anchor is an affront.

The problem with the article was in that it used the word intellectual. Just because someone is endlessly long winded doesn't make them an intellectual. And even if it did, I think intellectuals helped build the gas chambers in nazi Germany. Bill O'reilly is so ignorant and full of himself he makes Rush Limpballs seem shy, intellegent and self aware. Intellect without a heart can be deadly! like a mass murderer or serial killer. Maybe someday this fool O Reilly will get his comeupence.

Bill O'Really elicits wit and sad truth from Mr. Wycliff:

Less than two years ago, George W. Bush won a second term in office with the biggest popular vote in American history. His party controls both houses of Congress. The ACLU is preoccupied with controlling the speech of its board of directors. The New York Times, which also came in for some of Bill's dishonorable mention, has not endorsed the winner in the last two presidential elections.

And yet you, Bill, are peddling the notion that Bush is hamstrung in fighting the Iraq war because of domestic doubt and opposition from the left.

There was much fuming about "taking the handcuffs off" and "taking the gloves off" and people cowing the Bush administration and forcing it to fight the war "defensively," which after all was exactly how the war in Vietnam had been wrongly fought. And they all arrived at the same conclusion: The U.S. must fight this war to "win" or bring our troops home.

We have already lost this war! Should not have started it. Bin laden still roams free. Bring the kids home and send the Neo-con war supporters in their place! Bushes daughters could learn some hard life lessons over their . . . lessons that they wouldn't get from their silverspoons lifestyle . . . be doing them some good to go in stead of some poor inner city blacks or mexicans! Get them outta the bars and nightclubs.

On a related right wing hypocrite:

"Sources have confirmed to CBS4 News that conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been detained at Palm Beach International Airport for the possible possession of illegal prescription drugs Monday evening.

Limbaugh was returning on a flight from the Dominican Republic when officials found the drugs, among them Viagra.

Limbaugh entered a plea deal back in April in a previous case where his charge of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions was dropped under the condition he continue undergoing treatment for addiction.

Limbaugh had admitted to being addicted to pain killers on his radio program and had entered a rehabilitation program prior to that arrest."

According to Olberman, he was caught with some prescription drugs under another person's name.

I hate when that happens.
