I just heard the Obama speech in Berlin. "Tens of thousands" at the event? Looked like (at least) a hundred thousand to me. Television cameras on the crowd gave a mostly 30-45 year old age impression, curious to welcoming attitudes. Smiles. Rapt attention mostly.
And, I cried! By speech conclusion the darned speech brought tears to my eyes. That's never happened to me with Obama before. And I'm pretty good at monitoring my own emotions so the question for me was, why did I cry? Was I moved by what he would do? No, I heard what I believe we should be, as a world community. I heard my values reflected: unity, acceptance and commitment to both.
I'll have to read the transcript to see what he actually said. Why? Because my emotional response to what I wanted to hear (for example the way I am now remembering it) could skew what he actually said! And that is my cursory analysis of how the speech impacted me-- as a skeptic.
What will others feel, and remember? Was the impact enough to have swayed the impression of Obama the Candidate to Obama the President?

Too bad them Germans in Germany wont be voting Obama in the fall....... THIS is actually the best SINGLE metaphor for the Presidential Race of 2008 WSJ/NBC Poll: Obama Maintains Lead Over McCain Susan Davis reports on the latest WSJ/NBC News poll. Barack Obama remains ahead of rival John McCain in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll with a six-point advantage, 47%-41%. Obama’s lead is exactly the same as it was a month ago in the June WSJ/NBC poll.
6%? Perhaps with Obama moving REICHT so far, American's are having trouble telling what the differences between Barak and Gramps really are..... I mean with FISA II, all the saber-rattlilng at Iran, bigger military, lack of support for single payer Health Care, it is getting tougher and tougher to make a 'choice'...... Maybe there is just a shortage of 'clothespins' for those needing to choose.... |

| So, to contrast Sen. Obama drawing record crowds of people in the USA, and around the globe, McCain can't even get reporters to cover his campaign. People are equating McCain as a Republican, with Pres. Bush, who is also a Republican. The people see what Bush has done, and figure that since McCain followed Bush in lockstep more than 95% of the time the last 8 years, that McCain is more of Bush. Seems fair to me. |

So, vote for Obama, and then call your Congress Critter - TM StephanieMillerShow, and tell them to support it, and have Pres. Obama sign it. |

He'd rather vote for Bob Barr who doesn't believe government should do anything at all about the uninsured, or for Ralph Nader who will quintuple the number of government regulations that Adam so despises. Adam would rather lose every election, have no say in government, never work on the inside for change, and then laugh at all the clothespinned fools who do have a say in how the future is shaped. Adam is happy being the cackling ass, tirelessly declaring himself the fount of truth. It is what he was born for. |

Digg It!

I know that during the Obama-Clinton soap opera of so many months ago, many suggested -- like Andrew Sullivan -- that a President Obama would be highly symbolic to the rest of the world, and that would be to our great advantage in moving forward. This is an example of just how popular the right man for the job can be, after tolerating the wrong man for so long. It is about time to finally be proud of the face America shows to the rest of the world, and to not be embarrassed by the words of our President.
