Hey everyone.
I just found out that Maine's NBA team has finally decided on what their name is going to be. The number one poll choice for Maine's NBA team that the fans voted for is the Maine Red Claws!
And to add to the good news, the NBA D-League has announced that another East Team has come forward in Springfield, Massachuessetts. According to the article at the ESPN website from the Associated Press the pro team "will be replacing the Anaheim Arsenal NBADL team, which was affiliated with the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers."
The new Springfield team is uncertain who their new affiliate will be, but is certain that it will not be the Boston Celtics, who will be the expected affiliate of Portland Maine's Red Claws team.
I hope everyone is as excited about this as I am, It is official that the Maine Red Claws are now an affiliate with the Boston Celtics.

| So, here's a stoopid question. What's the D League, and is it an offshoot / add on of the NBA? Have any NBA players come up from this D league yet? Is it new? I thought the college game was the NBA's minor league? |

Athletes who made the D-league team can come from College drafts who did not make it to the Professional NBA, but want to continue playing basketball, but at a professional level, or the athletes can come from local tryouts which any D-league team can hold if more of the roster is needed to be filled on their team. So essentially the NBA Dleague could be a league between college basketball and professional NBA. If you were wondering what the age is to tryout for the D-league team, it is 18 years old. The NBA D-League was founded in 2001, so it is fairly new. Since then it has been expanding across the country, mainly in central and western America. Each Team is affiliated with a NBA team. Any player can be brought up to a NBA team, but will be requested to play on the affiliate's team. I hope I have answered your questions |

| I've heard of a few players coming up from the D League. I've never actually seen a game though...

You jest! Mainiac didn't make it? WOW! The only lobsta with red claws is a dead, boiled one!
With such an extensive maritime heritage, I'm surprised Clippa or Privateer or Penob Scot - hell, even Monhegan Lights didn't make it!
Is this a sellout to the seafood lobby. Well, if it's to be seafood, why not Razor Clams or Steamas?
Or, better yet - how about DownEastas? The mascot could be a velvet egg!
Red claws? Sure sounds like a Jonah to me! Not exactly the Finest Kind!
