Yesterday as I was driving into work I took a moment to listen to Air America, which I usually do in the mornings. Not because I believe in a word that is on the station, but because the voice of the Bruce Jacobs goes straight through me just like Hannity's.  You know the type, that nasally whine that they both have. Anyway, as I was listening to Mike Newcomb (he's boarderline in the voice department but better than Jacobs) he mentioned that in America there are those who rise up from poverty and middle income life by taking chances.

I thought to myself, did Mike become a Conservative while I was not watching? My God, have we converted the most liberal guy I have ever heard?

Quickly I turned up the volume. He went on to say that when Bill Gates bought DOS from IBM he had a vision of what it could become and that IBM thought very little of the format. So he took $50,000.00 and bought the program. (Mike never said where Gates got the money, not sure it even matters, but I would curious as to whether he borrowed it or had it laying around) SO he continues to go on and on about the chance takers in life and how they acheive great things.

I was stunned. I knew that some of this conversation was started over his ongoing spat with Ed Schultz, the popular liberal talk show host who used to be on the old Air America Phoenix. Apparantly Ed got in Mike's nickers over the way Mike went about raising money to bring Air America back to the Phoenix market. But what I did not know was Mike was comparing himself to Bill Gates in so far as they had both followed a dream to make something happen. I actually was impressed with Mike for a moment. Then he said the dumbest thing I think I have ever heard come out of his mouth, (and there have been many, from "Conservatism is a desease" to "Tax cuts hurt the poor", how when the don't pay them anyway,  to his constant harping on the fact that he was a one time hopeful for the Governor Mansion here in Arizona) he said that Bill Gates was representative of being a liberal.  (By the way, I take no sides in this liberal battle between Ed and Mike, when your enemy is destroying himself from within, stand back and watch)

So I thought about it for a bit. Why would Mike be so two faced and talk out of both sides of his mouth. You are wondering what the other side of his mouth said at this point? Well just the other day I heard him say that rich people should not have all that money. He wants to penalize people for success by raising taxes on the richest 1% (which actually would hurt just about everyone with a combined household income over $90,000.00) and he goes on and on about making the rich pay their fair share.

Well, let's see if rich people are being fairly treated right now. If you and your spouse make more than $119,000.00 combined, (that's together, not one or the other making great money, just both of you doing just under $60,000.00 a year, good money but not millionaire status by any means) you can not claim your kids as a deduction. Does that sound fair? Not to me. I love my kids just as much as that single mother working two jobs to make ends meet, but she gets to deduct for her kids, why should I be treated any differently?

If my wife and I make $120,000.00 per year combined, our tax rate is $8440.00 plus 25% of every dime we make over $61,300.00. That's a total of $25600.00 (give or take) or 21% of our income paid to taxes.  And don't forget, we don't get to claim our kids. If our single mother ( and I'll make it sound realistic to liberals) working two low wage jobs makes $30,000.00 per year she has to pay $755.00 plus 15% over $7550.00, that's $4120.00 in taxes or 13% of her income. But throw in $3500.00 per kid (we will figure 2) for a deduction and she goes home with $2880.00 in her pocket. She has paid no taxes. Not a dime.

Now if we get to it, and work our asses off for a big paycheck, let's say $300,000.00 combined, we have to pay $42,170.00 plus 33% of every dime over $188,450.00 that's $78981.00 in taxes, or 26% of our income in taxes, and we don't get to claim our kids.

This is not a fair system at all. If I make over $336,550.00 it goes to $91,043.00 plus 35% of every dime over it, or basically 1/3 of all my income would go to Uncle Sam. Why should I have to pay and she does not. What deductions do I get if we both live in a house, I own mine and have to pay for the upkeep, I get to deduct for my interest payments but I also have to shell out for property taxes and city assessments and all manner of other hidden tax that kills that deduction in the end. Whoopy s***. She rents hers and doesn't have to pay for a thing if the AC goes out or the plumbing goes to hell or the place needs paint, it's all provided for her.

It was even worse before Bush's tax cuts. Thank God, as I look to the future and I know my income will increase because I am working to make it that way, I will at least have a little salvation from the old days. Oh wait, maybe not. The liberals in Congress are fighting to not make permanent the tax cuts, so I can get screwed again. But will it go up our single mom, nope, not a bit. She is safe from the government penalizing her. At least until she get's in her groove, which she is undoubtedly working towards, then she will find out how hard it is to keep the money you earn each day as the government and the liberals tell you that you are a bad person for having it and you are bad for wanting to keep it.

Mike, you need to reconcil your belief that rich people are a product of liberalism, which is a complete farse and your desire to beat them down when they get there. But I guess being two faced isn't that hard for you is it. You are pro-abortion for a child who has done nothing wrong, but anti-death penalty for a man who has killed 5 with a butcher knife. And the Doctor thing is getting old too, you are a shrink, a pill pusher who needs deparately to feel as if you are helping the world. You should spend a little time on your own couch.

But what would I know, I'm just an Average American, the kind who makes the future for themselves (CONSERVATIVES) instead of nursing off the public teet.
