Mike Malloy Fired

I normally would have added this as a comment to the current thread, “What I don’t Like about AA Phoenix,” but this is really upsetting to me. Mike Malloy touched me unlike any other of the hosts.

Air America fired Mike Malloy today. Those ads on Air America Phoenix where Mike Malloy says Air America is doing well and “Nah, Nah, Nah” mean absolutely nothing now. This is now proof of how desperately a second liberal talk network is needed.

Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz were victims of the move of Air America Phoenix to a new frequency. Charles Goiter is now in head-to-head competition with Dr. Mike in the morning. Does AA Phoenix just pay its money to the network and has no say in what it will be getting in return? Would the folks who go on the air on Saturdays please ask some pertinent and penetrating questions.

The final proof of how upset I am; this is my shortest article in history.

Oh no. Malloy was my favorite on the lineup, and then Sam Seder. Malloy has just enough hate without going over the edge. I also love Fred McChesney on the weekends. He nails the Republicans for the liars they are.

Malloy's rightgeous anger is a great counter-balance to Al Franken even-toned cerebral attacks against the neocons. There's room for both, and I will be sending out emails and joining KPHX in any campaign they have to bring him back ASAP. BTW PL, Ed Schultz was no victim of our local station's move and resurrection. He was quite the a$$, and bad mouthed the local grassroots effort to bring AAR back to Phoenix as "bakesale" fundraising.

Tell me this is not true! I'm devastated!

Mike Malloy is one of the reasons I DO like Air America Phoenix.

Most times he says exactly what I think including calling them the Bush Crime Family and Sons A *****s
and Bas****s.

Does anyone know where to email that will be most effective to complain about this?

There will be no Mike Malloy program on Air America Radio as we have been terminated as of 8/30/06.

We are as shocked as you are, especially since as recently as last Tuesday we were told we had the go-ahead to announce our return to NY airwaves and that our contract was "on the way."

We are told its a financial decision.

More details to follow as we hear them ourselves. Members of the press can contact malloyproducer@aol.com to schedule interviews

Hey Truthseekers, Malloy here. My good friend Peter Werbe will be temporarily broadcasting on Air America Radio at night in my old time slot. He's a good guy, a true left-liberal, and now finds himself in an awkward position. He cannot comment about the circumstances of my termination on the air, which I completely understand and support. I have been in Peter's exact position in the past.

So I have a request: Please treat Peter with the respect he truly deserves. Please keep in mind he did not ask to be in this position. The righteous anger and frustration felt right now by so many supporters of our program should be expressed to Air America Radio directly.

I have to come to the defence of Air America here. They have a right as a corporation to make those changes to their line up based on the bottom line. If Malloy was asking for an increase that would have financially strapped the fledgling network then it has an obligation to its share holders to procede in a manner that best reflects the needs and desires of the share holders which is to make a profit.

I know he is every bit as important to you as you think Rush is to me, I will give you guys that, but making a company beholden to bad finanical deals simply to save one job is obsurd. If Malloy was to be paid what he was asking for and in a year Air America filed chapter 11 because of it, you would all be screaming that Air America was off the air completely. What purpose would that serve for your cause, none.

Now I do support Newcombs support for Malloy, he owes him that much and has said as much on air, I give him credit for his loyalty, but in the end 80% Air America has got to be better than no Air America from your point of view I suspect.

The liberal mindset of injustice to Malloy here is misplaced. they should be looking for ways to increase Air Americas revenues so they can afford to put out the product you want os badly. Or better yet, improve the product line to ensure additional revenue to support the network. Perhaps that is that is happening here. You might find that the replacement they choose will be better than the old one.

I for one will trust in the corporations decision to do what is best for their survival on this one. I just wish it would have been Rhoads that got fired, I hate that voice, her attitude and her shallowness when it comes to her looks. She's right, she's butt ugly and looks more like a man than Coulter ever has.

AA, why do think Malloy was fired because of a salary dispute? I think it was only last week that Malloy announced that he had renewed his contract with AAR, so it seems the salary negogiations were settled.

Anything we know about the circumstances of his termination are conjecture at this point. The petetion to bring him back is to show AAR that he has a very broad and adamant following. They had better take that into account.

I agree with AA, that I'd rather have seen Rhoades go than Malloy, but not because of her looks. She's in radio, not TV. I don't like her NYC centric attitudes, and her gossipy style. I also don't like the way she handles callers, either those against her, or in her favor. She doesn't seem to listen.
