| Huckabee's biggest problem was his religion. He seemed like a great guy and a great candidate until you looked at how his conservative values dictated his policy positions. Whether it was abortion or his contempt for science in the classroom, Huckabee was a flawed candidate from the beginning unlike John Mccain who did well because of his centrist or non-absolute Christian values. Mccain was by far the most electable republican contender. What really got me about Huck was that he raised his hand when the republicans were asked in a debate "who does not believe in evolution?" I thought WTF! He looked and sounded like a reasonable guy up till that question. |

| Welcome to VoA, LocalLeft! Your article left me in a different place than I think you intended. Huckabee's positions on the issues you've cited show me that he wouldn't represent all the people as the president. An aside, for a long time, 2/3 of Americans have been fed up with that type of governance; secondly, Huckabee's supporters are among the first to the ramparts to condemn Middle Eastern theocracies. More to the point - I think the real issue is the American voter's degree of tolerance in letting a president's faith dictate policy decisions. That's a trickier issue, one that transcends the separation of church and state - which, last I heard, was a done deal, followers of Hagee, Farrakhan, Dobson, Robertson and the ghost of Jerry Falwell, notwithstanding!

View this Comment June, Huckabee is out of the race and there is little chance of him serving as VP. could you please enlighten me as to how this article is more relevant than the monstrosity I wrote on Obama who I believe is still in the race and actually could be tapped in some shape of form by a President Hillary and quite possibly by a President McCain as a gesture of inclusion of the Democratic party? Thanks, it would really help me out. |
