It just figures...Michael Moore has now been served a subpoena by the Bush administration for his trip to Cuba for the filming on "Sicko". I need to make this very clear from the beginning...I have not always been a fan of his. He at times has taken a number of things out of context for effect. His job is to create controversy and make people think. That he has done throughout his career.
But this time, I have to stand firmly behind him. He was demonstrating the hypocrisy that has been going on with the people that were the true hero's of our Country and we take care of the people who are "supposed" to be our adversaries getting all of the health care! I think it is a valid and fair point!
I was having a conversation with a buddy after I heard the news and he was wondering if the Executive Order that the President signed on July 19th would be used to go after him interpreting that he was somehow "obstructing the war effort". After looking, I found out that it was the Department of the Treasury that was going after him for travel violations to Cuba. I hate to say it, but he is credentialed as media and with those credentials, he can make that trip. Credentials for the media has been established so that reporting can go on there.
The thing that is interesting is that the administration is going after him for this yet they will not honor subpoenas given to them!
Maybe its just me, but doesn't it seem like the administration is picking on people for the wrong reasons. Don't we have enough other more pressing issues that need to be addressed? I just know that this is the fight that Michael Moore is looking for. It will be interesting to watch this fight as it will have the full attention of the media and the Internet.

| Tom, I hope your right. The only thing that Michael has gained experience in is working with the media, combative as it may be. |

| I'm sure Moore will prevail for the very reason you stated above: he's media. The 9-11 victims he brought along with him aren't protected by the media shield, however. Nevertheless, I think it's unlikely (at this point) that the government will go after "the heroes of 9-11." That would probably backfire. It's much easier to go after some loud-mouth fat man. |
