 David Letteman: We now welcome the distinguished Senator John McCain from Arizona    “Applause”

  Dave: Gosh, it’s good to have you here.

 McCain: Thanks for having me

 Dave: It looks like you are the Republican Nominee for President now

 McCain: Yes, we all worked hard and the campaign succeeded

 Dave: Did you ever think you would make it this far being so far behind

 McCain: Well, yes, I am known for knowing how to campaign

 Dave: I’d like to ask a question about your view on Obama and his pastor 

 McCain: Okay

 Dave: How do you feel about Obama’s affiliation with his pastor?

 McCain: Well, it’s unfortunate and I hope it can be rectified

 Dave: How is your church doing these days?

 McCain: Just fine. Nothing wrong that I can tell

 Dave: Let me ask you about some business dealings you have had

 McCain: Okay

 Dave: It says here you were associated with a Mafia connection in Chicago in business

 McCain: Yes, but I didn’t know until recently they were Mafia

 Dave: But it says you dealt with them for years

 McCain: Yes, but their way of doing business I found out recently was not above board

 Dave: So you severed ties with them?

 McCain: Yes, as soon as I started my campaign I told them I would have to ban business with them? What’s the big deal anyway? It’s only the Mafia

 Dave: With all due respect Sir the Mafia is not noted for being clean cut

 McCain: Yes, but it was only business. Has nothing to do with my personal views or my qualifications for President

 Dave: Do you have any other associations you may regret?

 McCain: None that I am aware of. The media is making a big deal out of nothing.
