In an interview with one of the jurors in the Scooter Libby perjury trial, it was revealed that Scooter Libby had the sympathy of the jury. 

 

One of the jurors, Denis Collins, stated in an interview that another juror had put this into perspective with the statement “I wish we weren’t judging Libby.  This sucks.  We don’t like being here and doing this.” 

 

Collins said in another part of the interview that another juror asked “What are we doing with this thing here?  Where are Rove and the others?”

 

The sense was that Libby was a sacrificial lamb for the occupants of the White House.
