This is a very direct message to those Latino Leaders making 'demands' of the U.S. Government and  its legal citizens on behalf of all the ILLEGAL citizens:
THIS IS NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!
This Southwest corner has been my home for over 40 years and most of my vacations were spent in the small villages of Mexico where most of these people come from.   I've worked with them in the kitchens and in the gardens.  My beautiful porch was built by 3 men with a wonderful Mayan dialect using only machetes. (*How they got THOSE over the border...)
They amaze and astound me and I've been fired and disciplined in defending them against *opportunistic CITIZENS OF THE U.S.    And I will continue to do so as I do to anyone being taken advantage of.
And that brings me to my real point.  Opportunists are coming out of the woodwork using the Illegal workers as cover to cover a whole host of OTHER issues and the Latino 'Leaders' are no exception.  But very few of them, including the illegals themselves,  have all the facts on whats really at stake here.
Talking  thousands of workers into walking off their desperately needed jobs is irresponsible and  serves YOUR interests only.
You'd be much more effective overall by using your power and influence to confront and 'demand' help from  the FOREIGN leaders responsible.  Mexicos President Fox need some serious talking to.
This is a huge and complex issue more deserving of a 9-11 style Commission.  To be fair to all concerned here  discussions must  be devoid of politics.
Besides the many subjects already under public discussion others haven't even seen the light of day.
Chief among them are serious environmental problems.
Several weeks ago C-span aired a conference on Immigration.   One of the leaders, a very rude and haughty Latino man spouted  this  little gem:   "The U.S. has had such a low birth rate that there aren't enough workers. We're here to fill the bill".
Well Mr. Latin Leader you were completely ignorant of the fact that I, like millions of other women, DELIBERATELY CHOSE TO HAVE SMALL FAMILIES.   Our natural resources have surpassed their breaking point with our current population, thanks in part to the currrent Administrations deliberate neglect.   And instead of FILLING every inch with people we actually made saving our open spaces part of our U.S. policy.  In addition, I hardly believe these hard working people want to be 'workers' all their lives.

You have much to learn about the U.S. and ALL its people before you make demands.

And the last thing I and millions of other women need are more males concerned over what WE CHOOSE TO DO OR NOT DO WITH OUR VAGINAS!

So I say lets' wait.  After the election and once we ALL cool down we'll work together to create a well thought out plan that does justice to what we use to stand for.
