I would like to raise the issue of the 2006 senatorial elections. I have become politically active and have embarked on a quest to require my elected officials to answer unscripted questions with truthful concise answers. I guess that was my first mistake. It seems that some politicians simply refuse to answer some questions with a conviction of truthfulness. I'm speaking specifically of Senator Jon Kyl. If he answers at all, the answers are just political rhetoric that is posted on his website or talking points he has received from the RNC. I have requested an answer to a question that was raised by the past attempt by the Bush Administration to change the Social Security system with their ill-fated public relations campaign. Of course, Senator Kyl had stated fervently many times that he agreed with the President's position 100%. So, I have asked him via email, several times the following question. "Do you feel partially responsible for the purported fiscal problems with the Social Security Trust Fund because you have and continue to vote to withdraw/transfer funds from the Trust fund to the general fund?" I've received replies starting with his wholesale support for Private Investment accounts and ending just recently with his denial that there really is no Trust Fund. I urge everyone to ask our representatives hard direct questions and we should expect direct and concise answers in plain English. No philosophical political mantra's need apply. Please ask this same question and many others to Senator Kyl and all representatives wanting our vote this election cycle!
